So behind the scenes…
Yes, I am a labor and delivery nurse. I work nights. I do the new parent tours. I have my first charge shift next week; I’ve been asked to train to surgical tech and will start that soon. I have a whole career while people are sleeping. The best career. I get to welcome life and say goodbye to life and empower women and hold new mamas.
I also have this bunny thing lol. That I have lovingly done to myself haha.
But this week alone… we have 12 (!!!!) babies with open eyes and starting to eat hay. We took on two rescues. We lost a mama and have been trying to foster/supplement her only surviving kit, and we have one mom who is due.
I’d love to show my peers a day in the life because part time is supposed to be chill… but I have somehow learned to fill up every minute of my “free time”.. and that’s not including the two toddlers and the 11 year old kids I have.
Shout out to Kimberly Brebner Shreve, a fellow rabbit breeder, who has offered to take my lone baby and foster it to her litter that is close in age.
Thank you to Realm of Lapine Rabbitry for sifting through all of the milk replacers with me and sending me advice in the meantime.
I am beyond grateful. Beyond grateful for community (ya’ll have been holding me close the last couple months).
It takes a village.
