Looking to rehome a vlamingii tang (Naso vlamingii), currently ~7” and living temporarily in my sump. It needs to go to an established tank, 250 gallons minimum, 8 feet or longer, this isn’t negotiable, it needs the swim room to thrive.
• Eating well, including duncan coral so probably not completely reef safe
• Healthy, active, great color
• Lived with damsels and clownfish

Community is what makes this hobby special. 🪸

If you're a reef keeper in Arizona and you haven't found Arizona FRAG yet, this is your introduction.

AZFRAG (azfrag.org) is a local reef club that meets monthly at different locations around the Valley. Every meeting brings educational content, hobbyist conversation, and a frag auction where you can score some seriously cool coral from fellow keepers. It's the kind of room where beginners learn fast and experienced reefers stay humble.

This Saturday at 2pm, the club is meeting at Titan Aquatic Exhibits, one of the premier luxury aquarium design and build companies in the country. If you've never been in a space where world-class custom aquariums are conceptualized and built, this is a rare look behind the curtain.

I'll be there, and I'd love to see some familiar faces (and meet some new ones).
Whether you've been in the hobby for 20 years or you just set up your first tank, AZFRAG is worth your Saturday afternoon. The frag auction alone is worth showing up for.

This one really got us excited. 🌿

When Jon reached out, he had a 36 gallon bowfront that was set up with artificial plants, plastic decor, and a trio of goldfish that just weren't doing well. The tank looked fine on the surface, but something was off. The fish weren't thriving, and the setup wasn't really doing justice to the space or the hobby.

First thing we tackled? Responsibly rehoming the goldfish. We connected with a community member who has a fully established aquaponics pond setup, and those three are now living their best lives with room to actually grow. That part mattered to us.

Then we got to work.

Out went the gravel, the fake plants, and the plastic decor. In came driftwood, dragon stone rock, and a carpet of intention. We planted it with anubias, amazon swords, tiger lotus, and java fern, giving it that lush, layered look that only live plants can pull off.

For livestock, we went with gold dust mollies (absolutely stunning under the right light) and corydoras to patrol the bottom. Pink ramshorn snails round out the cleanup crew and add a little unexpected color to the mix.

Swipe through to see where it started, what it looked like freshly planted, and how it's filling in now. Live plant tanks are a slow reveal and that maturation stage is genuinely one of our favorite things to watch unfold.

Monday Maintenance Tip 💧

If you're not running an Auto Top Off system on your tank, this is your sign to change that.

Here in Arizona, evaporation happens fast, even faster than most people expect. Every day that water level drops, your salinity climbs, your skimmer performance suffers, and your return pump works harder than it should. Over time, that adds up to instability, noise, and stress on your livestock.

An ATO solves all of it. It automatically replaces evaporated freshwater and keeps your salinity stable, your skimmer running at its best, and your tank quiet. They work for freshwater tanks too, not just reef systems.

The other thing we love about ATOs: they're inexpensive and totally customizable. There's an option for every setup and every budget.

One pro tip we give all our clients: put your ATO on a timer so it only runs during hours when someone is home. It adds years to the unit's lifespan and ensures that if it ever malfunctions, you're around to catch it before it becomes a problem.

Small upgrade. Huge difference in how consistently your tank runs. 🌊

Hey everyone — wanted to introduce myself. 👋

My name is Jacob Healey and I run Saguaro Reef Co, a locally owned aquarium maintenance and design company serving the West Valley. I'm based out of Litchfield Park and work all over Goodyear, Buckeye, Surprise, Waddell, Peoria, Glendale, Avondale, Tolleson, and surrounding areas.

I've been in the hobby most of my life and turned it into a business because honestly I can't stop thinking about tanks. I offer:
