🪰Moist bedding, organic residues, and contamination create ideal conditions for flies to lay eggs. Within a few days, larvae develop and quickly increase the fly population throughout the facility.
That’s why the key is to limit the conditions in which flies can reproduce.
👉In practice, this means keeping surfaces dry, reducing moisture, and improving hygiene in animal housing areas. This is the stage where you can effectively break the fly life cycle.

🐖 Pigs have sparse, delicate bristles instead of a thick coat like wild boars. Their hair reduced over time through domestication and living in controlled environments, where they no longer needed protection from cold or rain like their wild relatives.
🐖 Pigs don’t sweat efficiently, so they have to cool their bodies differently than horses. Less hair helps with heat release, but it comes with a downside.
With less protection, their skin is more exposed to the sun, which means pigs can get sunburned and even tan, similar to humans.
🐖 Pigs protect themselves from the sun in three ways:
– they seek shade
– they wallow in mud, which creates a protective, cooling layer
– they reduce activity during the hottest parts of the day
Mud isn’t “getting dirty.”
It’s a real form of skin protection against sun exposure and overheating.

🐴When a new horse is introduced to a barn, more changes than just the stall lineup.
Every horse brings its own microflora. That’s normal. The issue is that a barn is not a closed system for just one horse.
Air moves between stalls.
Dust and bedding travel.
People carry microorganisms on hands, boots, and equipment.
That means new microbes spread throughout the environment, not just in one stall.
For healthy adult horses, this usually isn’t a problem.
But for young, older, or immunocompromised horses, it can increase the risk of infection.
👉That’s why bringing in a new horse is a moment to pay extra attention to:
– stall cleanliness
– dry bedding
– cleaning hands and equipment
– avoiding sharing items between horses
These are simple steps that make a real difference.

🐴A horse doesn’t analyze situations in a logical, human way. What they remember are associations: a place, a stimulus, and the emotion that came with it. 👉If something caused stress or pain, the horse will avoid it, even after a long time. If the experience was neutral or calm, they are more likely to accept a similar situation in the future.
🐴That’s why working with a horse is not only about what you teach, but also the emotional state in which you do it. Emotions are what shape their memory.

🐴The Appaloosa is one of the most recognizable American horse breeds, deeply connected to the history of the American West. Today, the largest population is found in the United States, where the Appaloosa Horse Club remains one of the world’s largest breed registries.
Beyond appearance, these horses are valued for their versatility. They are used in western disciplines, ranch work, trail riding, endurance competitions, and recreational riding. Their adaptability and willingness to work make them suitable for both experienced riders and dedicated amateurs.
Appaloosas are generally known for being alert, intelligent, and people-oriented. They tend to form strong bonds with their handlers and respond well to consistent, thoughtful training.

🐴The Norwegian Fjord Horse developed in western Norway under extreme conditions.
Steep terrain, cold climate, and limited resources shaped a breed known for durability, strength, and low maintenance.
Their dense winter coat and natural hardiness make Fjords exceptionally well adapted to cold environments.

🐴A horse may look calm even when something is wrong. In the wild, showing pain or weakness could make an animal more vulnerable, so horses are naturally wired to mask discomfort.
👉That’s why signs of pain can be subtle: changes in posture, reduced willingness to move, muscle tension, restlessness, decreased appetite, or a noticeable shift in behavior.
With horses, quiet doesn’t always mean fine. Careful observation is one of the most important parts of good horsemanship.

🐴For a horse, the presence of other horses is a core part of feeling safe. In a group, tension is lower, reactions are faster, and the environment is more predictable. This is an evolutionary survival mechanism, not a matter of “liking company.”
Sudden separation from the herd can trigger a stress response: vocalizing, restless movement, heightened alertness, and sometimes difficulty focusing or eating. This behavior isn’t caused by a “bad temperament,” but by a natural need to monitor and control the surroundings.
If a horse is expected to stay calm on their own, gradual changes, a consistent routine, and at least visual or auditory contact with another horse are essential. Isolation without preparation usually increases tension instead of reducing it.
