Ryan Reynolds is using his platform to beg his fans to adopt rescue dogs instead of buying from breeders. His own rescue dog Baxter has been his best friend for over 15 years. 🐕💛🌟

Reynolds adopted Baxter, a golden retriever, from an animal shelter after visiting on behalf of a friend and instantly falling in love. He and his wife Blake Lively now have four dogs together, and Reynolds has partnered with Best Friends Animal Society to promote shelter adoption to his millions of followers.

In 2024, his friend and Wrexham AFC co-owner Rob McElhenney renamed every adoptable animal at Best Friends shelters across the US "Ryan Reynolds" for the actor's birthday, waiving adoption fees and matching donations. The campaign highlights that roughly 6.3 million companion animals enter US shelters every year and millions more need homes.

🚨🐾 THIS IS A WORLDWIDE ISSUE — AND SILENCE IS NOT AN OPTION. 🐾🚨

Look closely at this image.

These are not commodities.
They are not sacks of meat.
They are not disposable.

They are dogs. They are living, feeling beings who experience fear, pain, stress, and love. Many are someone’s beloved companion, someone’s family, someone’s missing pet.

The image of dogs tied inside sacks at a dog meat slaughter house in Asia is devastating. But we cannot allow ourselves to look away simply because this suffering is happening thousands of miles from our own homes.

🌎 THIS IS A GLOBAL PROBLEM.

Across parts of Asia, dogs involved in the meat trade have reportedly been taken from streets, markets, communities, and even from outside or near their own homes. There are documented rescue operations involving dogs who were destined for slaughter, including dogs taken from meat farms and trafficking networks.

And we must also ask an uncomfortable question:

Why are dogs STILL being moved across international borders to feed this trade?

Any credible allegation that dogs are being sourced, bred, transported, or exported from the United States for slaughter overseas deserves serious investigation by the appropriate authorities. If this is happening, it must be exposed and stopped.

America cannot claim to value animal welfare while allowing loopholes, inadequate enforcement, or international trafficking networks to put companion animals at risk.

🇺🇸 AMERICA — WE NEED STRONGER LAWS RIGHT NOW!!!

The United States has already taken steps to prohibit the slaughter and commercial movement of dogs and cats for human consumption under federal law. Congress passed legislation in 2018 that prohibited knowingly slaughtering dogs or cats for human consumption and prohibited knowing transportation and related transactions involving dogs or cats destined for that purpose.

But legislation means nothing if loopholes, trafficking, illegal activity, or inadequate enforcement allow animals to continue falling through the cracks.

We are calling for:

🔴 Stronger federal protections and enforcement.
🔴 Serious investigation of any U.S.-based individuals or businesses suspected of supplying dogs to the international meat trade.
🔴 Stronger import/export safeguards and traceability for dogs crossing international borders.
🔴 Severe criminal penalties for individuals who knowingly steal, traffic, torture, slaughter, or knowingly facilitate the trafficking of companion animals for human consumption.
🔴 International cooperation to dismantle trafficking networks.
🔴 Stronger animal-protection laws worldwide.
🔴 Justice for the animals who have already suffered.

And we want to be clear:

WE ARE NOT ATTACKING PEOPLE OR CULTURES.

This is about animal cruelty and criminal exploitation.

There are millions of people throughout Asia who oppose the dog meat trade and are working to end it. South Korea, for example, enacted legislation to prohibit the dog meat industry, with the ban moving toward full implementation in 2027.

This is not about blaming an entire country, continent, culture, or group of people.

This is about holding individuals and organizations accountable when they abuse, steal, traffic, torture, or kill animals.

A dog standing on someone's porch should not disappear into a trafficking network.

A family should not have to wonder whether their stolen dog has ended up in a meat market.

A dog rescued from a street should not become a commodity.

A breeder, transporter, trafficker, broker, slaughterhouse operator, or anyone else knowingly participating in such cruelty should not be able to hide behind borders.

⚖️ THE LAWS NEED TO CHANGE — AND THEY NEED TO BE ENFORCED.

We believe animal cruelty of this magnitude should carry serious criminal consequences, including felony-level penalties where appropriate.

We need laws that recognize what these animals actually are:

Living beings.

We need governments around the world to close loopholes, strengthen enforcement, investigate trafficking, and make it unmistakably clear:

STEALING, TRAFFICKING, TORTURING, AND KILLING COMPANION ANIMALS FOR PROFIT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Not tomorrow.

Not next year.

TODAY.

At The Baxter Busche Foundation LLC, we refuse to believe that the suffering of animals should be ignored because it happens somewhere else.

We will continue to speak.

We will continue to advocate.

We will continue to demand accountability.

And we will continue to fight for the animals who have no voice in the rooms where laws are written.

Because every dog matters.

Every stolen pet matters.

Every life matters.

Not one more dog stolen.
Not one more dog trafficked.
Not one more dog tortured.
Not one more family left searching.
Not one more life treated as a commodity.

🐾 THE TIME FOR CHANGE IS NOW. 🐾

Be Their Voice. Demand Justice. Protect Their Lives.

Peter Dinklage is using his platform to speak out against commercial pet breeding, urging people to adopt from shelters instead of buying from breeders. He's supported animal welfare campaigns for years, including work linked to organizations that raise concerns about puppy mills and shelter overcrowding.

His message is simple, millions of dogs and cats are already in shelters and need homes, and adoption can help lower euthanasia rates caused by lack of space. Dinklage has reportedly adopted rescue animals himself, matching his personal choices with what he promotes publicly. Each year, millions of animals enter U.S. shelters, and hundreds of thousands are euthanized simply because shelters run out of space, which is why the adopt don't shop message remains a major part of the animal welfare conversation. Do you think celebrity advocacy actually changes people's minds when it comes to adopting versus buying?

STOP BREEDING DESIGNER DOGS. YOU DO NOT NEED THEM.

CHECK THE NONPROFITS. CHECK THE LOCAL SHELTERS.
I GUARANTEE you there is already a dog sitting there waiting for your love — confused, abandoned, surrendered for reasons that were never their fault.

We cannot keep up with rescuing these dogs because someone’s dumb idea of “getting rich” off breeding Golden Doodles turns into a nightmare every single time.

You think you’re going to make $10,000 a puppy?
Then reality hits: vet bills, food, disease, space, sanitation, emergencies — and suddenly you’re broke, overwhelmed, and the neighbors are calling the cops.

And then we show up — breaking through your private gates, flashlights cutting through the dark — and we find 150 neglected Golden Doodles you thought were your ticket to easy money.

Now YOU walk away…
And WE spend $50,000 to keep them alive, treat them, rehabilitate them, find fosters, and eventually place them in forever homes.

STOP IT.
It is a LOT of work.
It is a LOT of suffering.
And it is COMPLETELY preventable.

THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE. 😡💔🐾

🌍 THE GLOBAL CRISIS
This is what happens when there are more dogs in need than people willing or able to save them.

This is not a local issue.
This is a global epidemic.

📊 362 MILLION homeless dogs worldwide
📊 12 MILLION dogs in shelters

Shelters do not have unlimited funding.
They do not have unlimited space.
They do not have unlimited staff.

When shelters run out of space?

DOGS DIE.

Not because they’re bad.
Not because they’re broken.
Not because they’re unlovable.

They die because we failed them long before they ever reached a shelter.

🐾 WHY THIS IS HAPPENING
Overpopulation — accidental litters, backyard breeding, designer breeding for profit

Abandonment — financial hardship, housing instability, behavioral challenges

Shelter overcrowding — too many dogs, not enough homes

Lack of pet-friendly housing — families forced to surrender pets they love

Dog meat trade — stolen, trafficked, tortured, killed in parts of the world

This is not just an animal welfare issue.
It is a global industry built on suffering.

💔 THE SIGN THAT BREAKS YOU
“IF YOU ARE HERE TO SURRENDER YOUR PET…
DUE TO OVERCROWDING, ALL OWNER SURRENDERS WILL BE EUTHANIZED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING SURRENDER.”

Imagine walking in with your dog — your companion, your family — and learning that surrendering them means ending their life.

This is reality.

🐶 WHY THE BAXTER BUSche FOUNDATION EXISTS
We fight because they cannot.
We rescue because they have no voice.
We advocate because someone has to.
We raise money because survival depends on it.

But rescue alone is not enough.

We must stop the problem BEFORE dogs ever reach shelters.

Affordable spay and neuter

Accountability for irresponsible breeders

Public education

Pet-friendly housing

Support for shelters

Fostering

Adoption

Donations

And above all…

✂️ GET YOUR DOG SPAYED OR NEUTERED.
Bob Barker said it decades ago.
The world still hasn’t listened.

Every accidental litter adds to the crisis.
Every irresponsible breeding operation fuels the problem.
Every dog born without a lifelong plan becomes another statistic.

Preventing unwanted litters prevents suffering.

🐾 OUR MISSION
The goal is not to build more kennels.

The goal is to build a world where kennels aren’t needed.

Until then, The Baxter Busche Foundation LLC will continue to fight like hell for every dog who cannot fight for themselves.

Because ONE DOG DYING IN A SHELTER IS ONE TOO MANY.

A story about a sixty six year old woman spending her savings to rescue dogs shows how far compassion can reach. Saving animals from fear and neglect takes courage, money, planning, and support from people who share the same goal. One person may begin the effort, but lasting care needs a strong community.

Rescued dogs often require quarantine, vaccines, food, grooming, transport, and medical treatment before they can enter safe homes. Donations should go to trusted groups that share clear records and follow proper welfare practices. Responsible rescue protects animals after the first dramatic moment passes.

No one can save every dog alone, yet one caring choice can still change many lives. Her sacrifice reminds us that action matters most when animals have no voice of their own. What form of rescue support means the most to you? 🐾🙏
