We’ve received several questions regarding New World screwworm following the recent case reported in Andrews. It is important to note that the affected dog had traveled from New Mexico and resides in New Mexico. At this time, the risk in our area remains low, but awareness is important.

If your pet has recently traveled to Mexico or nearby region/s, develops a new wound that is not healing properly, or you notice anything unusual, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or schedule an exam.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information, we encourage everyone to follow the Texas Animal Health Commission’s updates.

There are many tools in the toolkit for preventing and treating New World screwworm (NWS). The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized and conditionally approved drugs available for NWS infestation and prevention. Animal owners and livestock producers are advised to contact their veterinarian to receive direction on the appropriate product for their animals. One of our newest Techs and a graduating senior! He’s headed to Texas Tech University this fall to study Animal Science with a Pre-Veterinary focus and plans to apply to Vet School after undergrad.

C**t has several years of tech experience working at Terry County Animal Hospital, and now splits his time there and CAAC to gain more experience with small and large animals. Through his hard work and dedication, he has also earned NUMEROUS scholarships: Texas Tech University Presidential Scholarship, Poka Lambro Scholarship, Bailey County Electric Cooperative, Sundown ISD College Readiness, Seth Everett McDaniel Memorial Scholarship, LaQuetta J. Henderson Memorial Scholarship, Rip Lasater Memorial Scholarship, Terry County Farm Bureau Scholarships (and several more)!

One of our amazing CAAC Vet Techs and graduating seniors! She’s headed to Texas Tech University this fall to study Animal Science with a Pre-Veterinary focus.

Through her hard work and dedication, she earned a full ride with the Presidential Merit Scholarship and the Ag Texas Scholarship.

Her goal is to attend the Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine after undergrad and follow her dream of becoming a veterinarian, just like her aunt, Dr. Middleton!

Receptionist Week may have been last week, but our two main girls, Eva and Amanda, deserve their own spotlight anyway! 🔦⭐️

They answer nonstop phone calls and texts, juggle the schedule, manage the chaos up front, and help with the hustle in the back. They have a knack for chatting with clients and knowing all the needs for their furbabies.

Big hearts, fun and goofy, they put a smile on everyone's face! Our clients love them, and we sure do too! Thanks for all you all do!
