🌫️ Training Update 🌫️

Due to the poor air quality from the ongoing wildfires, training sessions have been limited to prioritize the health and safety of the horses. While it’s never ideal to slow progress, their well-being will always come first.

During periods of unhealthy air quality, there will be no excessive or strenuous training. Instead, we’ll focus on what’s safe for each horse, with lighter groundwork or rest days as conditions require.

We’re also taking extra precautions by:
🐴 Providing constant access to fresh, clean water
💧 Monitoring hydration closely
🌡️ Checking on each horse multiple times throughout the day
❤️ Watching carefully for any signs of respiratory stress or discomfort

The smoke won’t last forever, and I’d much rather lose a few training days than risk the long-term health of these horses. Thank you to everyone for understanding and supporting responsible horsemanship.

Honesty Matters in Training – For Your Horse’s Sake

One of the most important things you can do when sending your horse into training… is be honest.

Not “kind of honest.”
Not “I don’t want to sound bad.”
But fully, completely honest.

If your horse:
– Bucks
– Bites
– Strikes
– Has trauma
– Has never actually been ridden
– Or is more green than you think

Say it.

Because here’s the truth—trainers aren’t here to judge you. We’re here to help your horse succeed.

When we know the full story:
✔️ We can create the right training plan
✔️ We can keep ourselves and your horse safe
✔️ We can set realistic expectations
✔️ We can actually make progress instead of backtracking

When things are left out, it doesn’t make the situation better—it usually puts the horse in a harder spot and can slow down their progress.

There is zero shame in a horse needing more work, more time, or a different approach. That’s what training is for.

At Wildfire Horsemanship, we work with horses where they’re at—whether they’re fresh off the range, restarting, or needing a solid foundation.

But we can only do that effectively when we’re given the truth from the start.

Your horse deserves that honesty.
