Some of you might remember the heartbreaking reality of these little ones: they survived a devastating house fire, and the medical care they received immediately after from a vet tech was subpar at best. Because of that, when they first came into my care, they were in very concerning condition. They only spent a week with me before making it back home to Christina Jones.

It took weeks of intensive rehabilitation, proper nutrition, and round-the-clock love starting here and then back at home to turn things around. But look at them now—these little fighters have made an almost complete recovery! One sweet girl might carry a tiny little scar on her back as a badge of honor, but otherwise, every single one of them is going to be just fine.

They are officially chunky, healthy, and living their absolute best lives! ❤️

Yesterday I said this life isn’t a 9-to-5, but it is truly the biggest blessing. And with today being Dolly Day, it feels only right to honor the queen herself! 👑🎶

Miss Dolly famously sang about working “9 to 5,” but she also said something that hits home for anyone working in rescue and animal care:

“Find out who you are and do it on purpose.”

For me, that purpose is loving, healing, and protecting animals. It means tumbling out of bed into a whirlwind of paws, scales, vet runs, foster care, and flight coordinates. It’s round-the-clock dedication, unpredictable chaos, and boundless heart. But as Dolly also said, “I always count my blessings more than I count my money”—and every single pet that crosses my path is a blessing I don’t take for granted.

Dolly didn’t just build an empire on big hair, incredible music, and southern charm; she put that giant heart directly into rescue work with her Doggy Parton line. She created it specifically to give back, donating a portion of all proceeds directly to Willa B. Farms Animal Rescue to fund medical care, rehabilitation, and permanent sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals. She believed every creature deserves kindness, dignity, and love—and she put her resources right where her heart was.

Life with animals is pure, unfiltered chaos—and it is never stagnant. There is no such thing as a predictable day, and it is definitely far from a typical 9-to-5. Even though I never truly clock out, I wouldn’t trade this life for anything in the world. 🐾

Someone told me recently that the animals in my care are lucky to have me. But honestly? I’m the lucky one.

Ever since elementary school, I knew this was where I belonged. I’d rush through getting ready in the mornings just to catch vet shows on TV before school started. While my brothers thought the birthing scenes were completely gross, I was glued to the screen, entirely fascinated. I’ve spent my whole life wanting to work with animals, and living that reality every single day is my dream come true.

Most days are full-throttle madness. I’m running on adrenaline, up to my elbows in puppy p**p, juggling feeding schedules, washing piles of bedding, and managing the beautiful mess of it all. But then come the quiet moments like today that stop you in your tracks—just lying in bed beside an exhausted, resilient mama cat who has been through the absolute wringer, finally feeling safe enough to rest her head and breathe.

Those still, tender moments make every single second of the madness completely worth it. The chaos changes daily, but the gratitude never does.

Whether it’s my own resident zoo, a foster baby learning to trust, or a precious pet flying in-cabin across the country with me, I love every single one of them just like my own.

Life, Litters, and Big Milestones: A Quick Update & Upcoming Calendar 🐾💛

Now that the dust has finally started to settle, I wanted to sit down, catch my breath, and share an honest update on what’s been happening behind the scenes—both in rescue mode and on the transport calendar!

The Foster Front: From Rough Starts to Bright Futures

Many of you followed the heartbreaking house fire that displaced breeder Christina and her family. The night of the fire, I brought sweet Captain home for five days before our big flight out to California. But there was also a newborn litter from that same night that initially went somewhere else.

Sadly, those babies didn't receive the critical care they needed from the medical professional trusted with their care. Last week, at just three weeks old, they came back into the picture in very rough shape, and I stepped in to take the litter.

I’ve bottle-fed and fostered countless kittens over the years, but nursing this fragile litter of pups through around-the-clock feedings, teaching them how to bottle feed, starting them on raw food, and rebuilding their strength from the ground up pushed every ounce of my energy. It was exhausting, emotional, and tested me in ways I didn't expect.

After seven intense days, while their weight gain has been slow and steady, the turnaround in their spirit has been night and day. They are alert, up on their feet, walking around, and truly on the mend. Christina is holding off on taking any deposits until they are thriving rather than just "okay," but we are finally out of the woods. They had a terrifying start to life, but seeing them bright-eyed and fighting makes every sleepless hour worth it. Their futures are going to be so bright! ✨🐶

The foster cat and kittens from another fire are doing amazing the kittens are running around and starting to play. Mama cat has done incredible and all of her fireballs will be available for adoption at 8 weeks if anyone is interested!

Between round-the-clock puppy cat and kitten care and upcoming family milestones, here is how the rest of the year is shaping up:

October: I am intentionally keeping early to mid-October very light. My newest grandbaby is making his arrival soon, and my top priority is staying right here on the ground to be hands-on as Gi-Gi and support my family! Limited transport spots will be available toward the latter half of the month.

November & December: The holiday transport rush is coming up fast! While I don’t have finalized flight dates locked in just yet, several wonderful breeders I regularly work with have alerted me to upcoming litters that will be ready for their forever homes. These months will fill up quickly once dates lock down.

Foster update time at Kelli’s K9 Courier! 🐾

Mama took right over and accepted each and every one of these babies without skipping a beat. She is so fiercely devoted to her 6 little fireballs that she didn't even want to stand up to eat—I literally had to take the babies away for a quick minute just to force her to care for herself! She barely moves an inch from that nest unless I step in to help.

A few neighbors who interacted with her before warned me she had a reputation for being “spicy” and wouldn't let people pet her. Honestly? I have seen the complete opposite. Sure, she gets a little startled and jumps if I walk up too close (which is completely understandable), but underneath that nervousness, she is the sweetest soul. Every single time I reach into her whelping box, she just purrs. She has been nothing but kind, gentle, and loving.

The best news? Mama already has her forever home waiting for her!

Meanwhile, Ash, Ember, Cinder, Smokey, Blaze, and Arson are doing amazing. They are fat, healthy, happy, gaining weight like champs, and barely make a peep now that they're back with Mom. The day I had them without her, they were so talkative, lol! Even after full bellies and potty breaks, they kept right on meowing, definitely searching for their mama. They will be looking for their own loving homes once they're big enough!

If cats aren’t your thing, don't worry—I also have a couple of wonderful foster dogs who are still waiting on their forever families to find them.

They say when it rains, it pours—but lately, it feels like a relentless storm.

Just as I was still trying to process the heartbreak of a close family friend working towards rebuilding her home due to a fire, disaster struck right next door yesterday. My neighbor’s house burned down. The flames swept right up into the tree line between our properties, and while it came terrifyingly close, my home was spared.

The chaos of sirens, smoke, and flashing lights was overwhelming (especially for the zoo while evacuating), but this morning brought an unexpected plot twist. Somewhere out in the midst of all that commotion, a neighborhood stray had been hiding her brand-new babies. Today, she used the absolute last ounce of strength she had to carry them to my doorstep, one by one.

It quickly became clear that the trauma of the night wasn't her only struggle—she had endured a terribly difficult labor just in the last couple of days. Between severe postpartum complications and total exhaustion, she was in critical condition and needed immediate, urgent veterinary intervention. She did everything she could to get her litter to safety, but she cannot care for them right now, leaving her six little ones in need of round-the-clock surrogate care.

They are safe, warm, and resting after surviving the scariest start to life imaginable. In honor of the fire they dodged, meet the survivors: Ember, Blaze, Ash, Smokey, Cinder, and little Arson.

I am taking over as their foster mom, bottle-feeding and nursing them through these next several critical weeks until they are healthy, weaned, and strong. My hope is to have loving forever homes already waiting for each of them when they are ready to go.

Taking a little time today to soak up some Disney magic, but even in the middle of Main Street, I can’t stop thinking about all the four-legged cuties waiting for their flights home!

From playful pups with the spirit of Copper and Pluto, to gentle sweethearts as poised as Nana and Lady, every journey has its own fairytale ending. Watching these puppies meet their forever families never gets old—even if it feels like managing 101 Dalmatians sometimes! 🐶❤️
