Did you know Maine C**ns were declared extinct at one time????

When glamorous, imported breeds like the Persian surged in popularity in the early 20th century, the breed all but vanished from cat shows. By the 1950s, their numbers were so critically low that the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) officially declared the breed extinct.

However, the breed was never entirely wiped out.
Dedicated enthusiasts in rural New England kept the lines alive by carefully maintaining barn cats and private breeding records. This dedicated preservation effort allowed the breed to make a massive comeback. By 1976, the CFA officially reinstated the Maine C**n to championship status, and it has since rebounded to become one of the most popular cat breeds in the world.

Being a breeder is not all fun, and kitten furball’s. We deal with constant negativity about the breeding and the rejections that we are trying to scam someone. I was scammed myself a few times before I learned how to find reputable breeders. My love of cats and Maine C**ns helped me to decide to be a breeder to help people find their own sweet c**n.

So I know I posted that Cersei went into labor and had 9 kittens, 3 of them stillborn. Yesterday 2 of the smallest babies started going downhill. Well, they passed last night from fading kitten syndrome. They were just too small and underdeveloped. I was syringe feeding them, keeping them warm and held so I hope they knew they were loved. This Is the first time as a breeder that I have lost kittens and to lose any hurts hard.

So the past two days were long and stressful for momma Cersei. Her labor started in the middle of the night and she had 2 tiny but healthy babies. Then labor stopped completely for about 12 hours. Then the next girl came and was stillborn. Followed by 4 more healthy babies. And labor stopped. We were done, so we thought as the x-ray showed 7 babies. Then all of the sudden she had a few contractions and out came two more. Both of them stillborn also. My sweet girl just didn’t have enough room for all nine babies. She keeps looking for the missing ones 😢
All 6 are healthy, just on the smaller size. I fully expect for their weight to catch up over the next few weeks. Soon they will see our vet to get a health check.

Cersei started labor in the middle of the night. She has had two babies so far, one boy and one girl. And now contractions have completely stopped. 😑so now we are just waiting for contractions to start back up and the other five to make a show.
