❤️ A PERSONAL UPDATE FROM DESERT WHISKERS RESCUE ❤️

Today, while setting up for our final fall garage sale, our founder Robert began experiencing severe pain and had to be rushed to the emergency room.

Unfortunately, Robert needs emergency surgery and is expected to remain in the hospital for the next couple of days.

If you know Robert, you know how much of his heart he puts into this rescue. He works tirelessly to help cats in need, often putting their needs before his own.

Even from the hospital, Robert has been adamant that we continue with this weekend’s garage sale. That’s how much this rescue means to him. ❤️

We’re going to do our best to honor his wishes, and our final fall garage sale is still scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 16–17, from 7 AM to 3 PM at 3101 Forest Brook Ct.

We also ask for a little patience over the next few days. If you’ve been coordinating a cat intake with us, we’ll need to temporarily pause those arrangements while we focus on Robert and getting through the next couple of days.

Most importantly, please keep Robert in your thoughts and send some positive wishes his way. 🧡 He’s always there when the cats need him, and right now we’re hoping for a successful surgery and a smooth recovery.

❤️🐾 MEET BENNY — SAFE WITH DESERT WHISKERS 🐾❤️

Benny is just 5–6 months old and was brought to Heaven Can Wait. We have been informed that he is blind, and he is now in the care of Desert Whiskers Rescue.

We’ll be taking him to an eye specialist to find out whether anything can be done to save his eyes or help his vision. We don’t know what’s possible yet, but we want to give this sweet baby every chance.

Not being able to see makes trusting new people a little harder for Benny. But once he knows he’s safe with you, he is such a little love bug. ❤️

This sweet boy is going to make someone a wonderful companion. Once we get answers from the vet, we’ll have a better idea of what care he needs and the next steps for his future.

A heartfelt thank-you to the caring staff at Heaven Can Wait for making sure this baby did not end up back outside. He deserves safety, kindness, and a loving home.

We’ll keep everyone updated as we learn more about our precious boy. 🐾

🧡 LOOK WHO’S BACK! ASTRID HAS QUITE THE UPDATE! 🐾

Our beautiful Astrid is back with us, and we have some wonderful news to share about her recovery!

For the past several weeks, Astrid has been in the loving care of one of our amazing fosters, alongside another rescue kitty, Mortimer. Unfortunately, we recently learned that Mortimer had ringworm, and Astrid ended up catching it too. 😞

So we’re dividing and conquering! Our foster will continue caring for Mortimer, while Astrid has returned to us for treatment. This way, we can share the workload and give both cats the attention they need to get healthy again. ❤️

But can we talk about how AMAZING Astrid looks?! 😍

When Astrid first came into our care, she was severely underweight, struggling to eat, and dealing with some serious health issues. Things got scary enough that she spent three days hospitalized.

Today? She’s nearly 14 pounds! That’s almost SIX pounds gained!! 🎉❤️

Just look at these photos! She’s filling out beautifully, and that gorgeous Maine C**n fluff is really starting to shine!

This is such a huge milestone for a girl who was struggling so much just a few weeks ago. And we owe a tremendous amount of thanks to her foster, whose patience, dedication, and love have helped Astrid make this incredible progress. 🧡

Astrid is still on medications for her ongoing health issues, so her recovery isn’t quite finished. And now we’ve got ringworm to tackle, too!

It’s certainly not the easiest road, but we’re taking things one day at a time. Seeing how far she’s come reminds us why we do this.

We’re also incredibly grateful that our foster is continuing to care for Mortimer through his treatment. Medical fosters put so much time and effort into helping cats recover, and we couldn’t do this without them.

Almost SIX pounds gained. A much healthier girl. And one more step toward the life Astrid deserves. 🥹❤️

We’ve still got some hurdles ahead, but today we’re celebrating Astrid’s progress!

💙🐾 LET’S WELCOME JAX! 🐾💙

This handsome 6-month-old Russian Blue mix boy was found by one of our wonderful community trappers, who knew this sweet baby deserved a loving home and reached out to us for help. ❤️

Jax is beyond sweet, loves attention, and gets along with other kitties. We’re so grateful someone gave him the chance to leave colony life behind.

He’ll be available for adoption in the near future. Please help us welcome Jax to the Desert Whiskers Rescue family! His next chapter is just beginning. 🏡💙

💕 MEET MCFLY & TYPHOON — TWO SWEET GIRLS LOOKING FOR FOREVER HOMES! 🐾

McFly and Typhoon are just 4 months old and are now available for adoption at PetSmart at Fort Apache & Tropicana!

🩷 McFly is a medium-haired gray tabby who was found outside alone and suffering from ringworm. She’s now fully healed and has grown into a slightly pudgy little love bug! 🥰

🩷 Typhoon is a beautiful brown-and-white long-haired tabby who survived panleukopenia. Sadly, her sister Gail didn’t make it. 🌈 Through it all, Typhoon has remained an incredibly sweet, affectionate girl who loves everyone she meets.

Both girls do well with cats and dogs. They’re healthy, happy, and ready for families of their own! ❤️

🌈💔 A HEARTBREAKING GOODBYE TO ASIA, WHOSE REAL NAME WAS TOOPY

Yesterday, we received a difficult call from the vet. Asia wasn’t doing well, and we were told that a heartbreaking decision would need to be made.

We had recently learned that Asia’s real name was Toopy. She was 23 years old, and her family had been searching for her since she went missing. They recognized her from our Facebook posts and reached out to us, hoping they had finally found their beloved girl.

As soon as we heard from the vet, we called her family to share the news and let them know we would meet them there.

What followed was one of those moments in rescue that stays with you.

We watched a family say goodbye to a cat they had loved since she was a kitten. Seeing just how much Toopy meant to them after 23 years together was incredibly moving. The love they had for her truly touched our hearts.

Last night, with her family by her side, Toopy crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈

We wish this story could have ended with Toopy going home. But we find comfort in knowing her family was able to be with her one last time and say their goodbyes, rather than spending the years ahead wondering what had happened to her.

We couldn’t give Toopy the ending we had hoped for, but we were able to help reunite her with the people who loved her most when it mattered.

Our hearts are with Toopy’s family as they grieve the loss of their beloved companion.

Rest peacefully, sweet Toopy. You were so very loved. ❤️🐾

❤️🐾 ASIA UPDATE — WE HAVE SOME INCREDIBLE NEWS! 🐾❤️

Well, Desert Whiskers family, we have some new information about our sweet Asia, and this is something we never expected!

Asia is 23 YEARS OLD! 😱❤️ Yes, you read that right! This beautiful girl is 23 years young!

But that’s not even the biggest news…

❤️ ASIA HAS A FAMILY, AND THEY HAVE BEEN SEARCHING HIGH AND LOW FOR HER! ❤️

Her owners reached out to us after seeing her story, and we learned they have had Asia since she was just a tiny kitten. That’s 23 years of love, memories, and being part of their family!

We also learned that Asia has been struggling with her health lately. She has been losing weight rapidly, and her family has been going back and forth to veterinarians, desperately trying to figure out what is wrong with their baby.

It has been incredibly difficult on them, watching a cat they have loved for so many years decline without having clear answers.

Somewhere along the way, Asia managed to sneak out of her home and wander off.

Her family has been searching high and low on lost pet websites and social media, hoping someone had found her.

We were able to verify through pictures and veterinary records that Asia truly belongs to them.

After speaking with her owners, I genuinely believe their story. They have been incredibly sweet, sincere, and concerned about their girl. You can tell how much Asia means to them. ❤️

When we first found Asia weighing just 4.86 pounds, severely underweight and in critical condition, we feared someone had abandoned her.

But sometimes there is more to a story than what we see at first. ❤️

And I’m so thankful we now know that Asia has a family who loves her.

Unfortunately, Asia is still in critical condition and remains in medical boarding. We are continuing her medical care and will work closely with her family as we figure out what comes next.

❤️ THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PART OF THIS STORY…

If Asia can recover and become healthy enough to return home, she won’t need to find a new family.

She already has one. A family that has loved her for 23 years and never stopped looking for her. 🥹❤️

Our hearts are happy knowing she wasn’t forgotten, but we are still very worried about her health.

At 23 years old, Asia is an incredibly special girl, and we want to give her every possible chance.

❤️🐾 HENRY UPDATE — OUR SWEET BOY IS FINALLY GETTING BETTER! 🐾❤️

We finally have some GOOD NEWS to share about our sweet Henry! 🥹❤️

Henry has been through so much these past several days, and it has been heartbreaking watching this poor boy suffer.

Henry was diagnosed with a severe upper respiratory infection (URI), and the inflammation behind his eyeballs was so bad that he could barely keep his eyes open. 💔

We were told the pressure behind his eyes probably felt like 100 pounds sitting right on top of them. Can you imagine how painful that must have been for this poor baby? 😢💔

The pain was so severe that our veterinary team had to keep him sedated for several days just to keep him comfortable while he received fluids, medications, and medical care.

But today, we can FINALLY share some wonderful news! ❤️

HENRY IS EATING ON HIS OWN, HIS PAIN HAS SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED, AND OUR SWEET BOY IS FINALLY TURNING THE CORNER! 🙏🐾

If everything continues going in the right direction, Henry should be discharged from the hospital within the next few days!

We cannot tell you how happy this makes us. This little guy has fought so hard, and seeing him finally feeling better means everything to us.
