A little reminder of what A Hermit’s Home is actually about:

Yes, I make hermit crab food. Yes, I make weird little enrichment things. Yes, I occasionally become emotionally invested in a bag of dehydrated goodies.

But the whole point started with rescue.

A Hermit’s Home exists to rescue, rehabilitate, educate, and advocate for hermit crabs because they’re not disposable pets, and “they only live a few years” is one of the biggest lies we’ve somehow normalized.

These animals can live for decades with the right care.

So if you’re here because you love hermit crabs, you’re here for the food, you’re here for the rescue work, or you just enjoy watching me spend an unreasonable amount of time making snacks for crustaceans…

Welcome. 🦀

JEEPERS CREEPERS ☠️🐦‍⬛

Every 23rd spring, for 23 days, it feeds.

And this time, it found beef.

Apples. Jalapeño. Sweet potato. Green beans. Raspberries. Banana. Beef liver. Beef brisket.

The animal proteins in this mix provide essential amino acids, while beef liver brings naturally occurring vitamins and minerals. The fruits and vegetables add carotenoids, fiber, and a range of other plant nutrients.

Hermit crabs are not herbivores. Animal protein is an important part of a balanced diet, alongside fruits, vegetables, seeds, grains, and other appropriate foods.

What feeds in the darkness is getting closer.

One of seven meals from the Halloween Collection. September 1st.
