Master Dog Trainer Gregory talks to Fox 5 News about the pit bull attack on a 9 year old boy that resulted in his death and the euthanasia of the dog.

Some dogs have been bred for combat or to take down other animals. Trainers call them combat breeds, and while they’re not necessarily dangerous, they do require extra care.

We use shock collars as a LAST RESORT, not first. This dog was trained for four weeks with a leash and collar before we agreed to put a shock collar on her. Since she already knew her commands, we only used the collar to modify her behavior towards dogs. We used it at the lowest level and the results that you see took 30 seconds to achieve.

Master Dog Trainer Gregory explains why it was appropriate to return a previously injured police k-9 back to service after only a month of recuperation from a sever machete attack. A decision that subsequently result in his death in the line of duty.

After news of the death of Metro K9 Nicky broke, many viewers asked why he was put back in service after surviving a machete attack in February.
