The "Horses Horses Horses" Program is an eight week mentoring program designed for students ages 9-14 that teaches the core values of self esteem, interpersonal skills, problem solving, critical thinking and overall respect through equine care and cowboy values as related to the code of the west. Over the course of the eight week program, participants are outfitted with cowboy boots, hats, riding
helmets, and other grooming items for horses, including a halter and lead rope, brushes, and hoof picks. Also, participnts are exposed to guest presenters who demonstrate various techniques for equine specialties, including ropers, veterinarians, and horseshoers. Further, the program allows for participants to return as leaders who assist with the next class. The goal for every participant is to not only leave the program having learned about the care and riding techniques of horses, but also to build their self esteem and to develop and strengthen core values that will benefit them throughout their lives. Finally, the "Horses Horses Horses" Program targets low income youth in Clark County and has for the last two years invited participants from public housing. The program is free of charge for all participants.
