Meet River, a 7-year-old Buckskin who has mastered the art of looking cute to get away with just about anything. He’s calm and cool on the outside, but a total nervous wreck on the inside—especially if you bring a banana near him (it’s a hard no). His owner found him at KCR while looking for a way to honor her late mother, Beverly Miller. River was the only horse that showed interest, sticking his head through the fence to choose her, and he was officially purchased on Mother’s Day to celebrate the lifelong love of horses her mom passed down. Since then, River has taught his owner the true meaning of resilience: even when things don’t go as planned, you figure out a way to keep going.

Something truly incredible happened over the weekend. Poka, our Icelandic mama-to-be, gave birth Saturday, May 2nd, just after 10pm. As ranch owners, this was our first time assisting in the birth of a foal — and nothing could have prepared us for it. The saying ‘you never forget your first’ is true, but watching the bond between mom and son form so quickly? That’s something words barely do justice. We are so grateful to share this journey with all of you. Welcome to the KCR family, baby boy. 🐴✨ - Jeff & Rebecca

As we end April, we want to take a moment to pause and reflect. It’s been almost two years since we became the owners of this amazing place that is Kyle Canyon Ranch.

Being just north of the Strip, it is such a gift to escape to the peace of the canyon and focus on what truly matters—the horses. Watching this community of riders and their animals thrive has been the highlight of our journey so far. There are so many more great adventures ahead for all of us here, and we can't wait to see what the next season brings.

HORSE SPOTLIGHT🐴🔦 Meet Mr. Shepard 🐑

Shepard comes from racehorse roots! His father, “Drunken Love” (apparently a big Beyoncé fan), had a strong career from ’93 to ’95, finishing in 1st place four times, 2nd place six times, and 3rd place once.

While Shepard may not be headed for the racetrack, he’s certainly quick to win hearts around the barn. He’s also a Midwest boy, just like his owner Caleb. Both made their way to Las Vegas from Ohio, and KCR is very thankful they did.
