It's really easy to blame the horse for behavior problems. Sometimes it's training related, but sometimes there's something physically wrong - and our current diagnostic capabilities or financial limitations can make it very difficult to find the problem. This horse had a history of reactivity and was very difficult to trim on the hinds. It wasn't until he passed away that a huge problem became apparent - he had a lumbar vertebrae trying to grow a rib. This bone was essentially stabbing him his entire life and no one knew.

Something to keep in mind, since our horses can't talk.
