💊 NEW PRESCRIPTION REFILL PROCESS AT SHINE VETERINARY SERVICES 💊

To help us keep prescription refill requests organized and make sure they are reviewed as efficiently as possible, we have a new process for requesting medication refills.

Prescription refills will now be requested in one of three ways:

1️⃣ **Online Refill Request Form** (PREFERRED METHOD!!!) Scan the QR code on this post or complete the form here:

2️⃣ **Call our office** at 985-464-9064 and select Extension 1.

3️⃣ **Text our office** at 985-464-9064 with your refill request. Client name, pet name, and medication information needs to be included in the text.

⏰ Please allow 1–2 business days for your request to be received, reviewed by our medical team, and filled. A member of our team will text you when your medication is ready for pickup.

Because of the high volume of prescription requests we receive and the nature of our mixed-animal practice, with our team caring for patients both in the clinic and at homes and farms throughout the area, we are not able to process refill requests immediately. Please do not walk-in to the clinic and request a refill, our team will redirect you to the three steps above. Our front desk team is not able to refill medications. Only our medical staff is able to complete these requests.

Please submit your refill request BEFORE you run out of medication. Prescription refills are not considered emergencies and are processed in the order they are received.

Please remember that submitting a refill request does not guarantee that the medication can be refilled. Our medical team must review your pet's medical record to ensure all requirements for the prescription are current. If we are unable to refill the medication, a member of our team will contact you with the next steps.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we implement this process to help us better serve all of our patients! 🐾

This message does not apply if you receive your medications from our online pharmacy. If you are refilling medication via our online pharmacy simply use the website and order what you need and we will approve/deny the request electronically.

These appointments are designed to help reduce pet overpopulation while keeping your feline friends healthy and protected.

✨ We’re appointment only!
Because we split our time between in-clinic appointments and farm/house calls, we see patients by appointment only.
The one exception? Our LaPlace Low Cost Walk-In Clinic on the first Tuesday of every month from 2–6 PM! 🎈

The fastest way to reach our team is 985-464-9064. While you can message us through social media or email, those methods may have a longer (or no) response time.

🚑 Emergency services
Emergency appointments are available for current patients only, meaning we’ve examined the patient within the last 12 months. Even then, some emergencies may need referral depending on the severity of the case and the availability of our one amazing veterinarian (she tries her best, but cloning isn’t an option… yet! 😉).

💊 Online prescriptions
To keep things streamlined, we authorize prescriptions through our Vetsource online pharmacy and Chewy only. If you’d like to use another pharmacy, we’re happy to provide a written prescription for pickup at our office.

🐾 We LOVE mixed animals!
Dogs? Cats? Horses? Goats? Chickens? Cows? Pigs? Alpacas? If it has fur, feathers, scales, or hooves, there’s a good chance we’d love to help care for it!

Your equine veterinarian shows up in the pouring rain, in the freezing cold, on the worst days — and the best ones, too. Now's your chance to say thank you, publicly!

Starting July 1, share a video (up to 1 min) telling us how your equine veterinarian goes above and beyond. DM it to us on Facebook or Instagram by July 31.

✅ Each horse owner who submits a video will receive a digital $10 Starbucks gift card. There is no limit to the number of videos you can submit, but only one gift card will be allowed per person.

�🏆 The veterinarian featured in the grand prize-winning video will be honored in person during the AAEP’s 2026 Annual Convention, Dec. 7-11 in Las Vegas, NV. �

🎬 In addition to the top three placed videos, winners will also be selected in three special recognition categories:

* Best Junior Submission

All submissions must include the owner's full name and the veterinarian's name, and focus on partnership, dedication, and care beyond the expected. The nominated practitioner must be an AAEP member to be eligible to win the grand prize.
