It’s my only day off for three weeks.
I spent the morning cleaning my home and baking for our little lake reunion.
I got out in the garden and half of it pruned and all of the straw refreshed in the beds.
Now I’m straight giving.

Hearing these things is so fu***ng hard.

I’m quickly how many of these memories I suppressed, “forgot” or was simply convinced it didn’t happen and I was crazy. “I don’t remember it happening that way”, she’d say.
“You’re crazy and lie about anything for attention”, she’d tell me.
Being force fed alcohol as early as 12.
Broken bones, bruises all made to feel like it was MY fault, or that I was to “drunk” and don’t remember what really happened.
All at the hands of the one person who was supposed to love me more than anything.

My mother hated me and I spent almost my entire life thinking that something was wrong with me, that I was the problem.

Now looking back and having the friends I have, I get to see things for what they really were.
Now that I’m opening up about my past I’m learning that it wasn’t me, my mom really was evil and I’m the only one who raised me.

I know I’m not perfect and I still have a lot of work to do; I know I’ll spend today bouncing in and out of PTSD episodes as a slowly recover this memory, but it’s so nice to be reminded that I wasn’t crazy, that these things really did happen to me and now I’m finally healing.
Remembering is healing.
Working through it is healing.
Talking about it is healing.

I’m on my way. ❤️
