Help a senior if you can!

URGENT: Please remember if you can not care for a dog adopted from us you must talk to us before surrendering to an animal
Shelter. I got a call from a shelter today where one of our previous adoptions , now 10 and ill has been surrendered.

Please always contact us. If it is possible we will help whether that be take the dog, find another home or some other solution.

Alexis ( from For Love of Paws Rescue) and Jacob had the pleasure this morning of transporting these babies for Wilderness Trail Wildlife Center. They are adorable and will hopefully be returned to the wild very soon.

Good Evening: I thought I would share just a little bit about us. For Love of Paws has not been taking in pets in recent years as we have so many seniors and dogs with health issues. If a dog is unadaptable due to behavior or health reasons they basically become a permanent member of my family. We presently have a 9 year old dog never adopted because she is a fear biter and we could never 100% trust her, a senior chihuahua maybe 15-16 years also a biter. Then we have a 8-9 year old shepherd mix that was 100% feral she has come so far and is still scared so we can’t part with her and traumatize her further. We have also been known to take the occasional horse or other in need animal. We have an animal science major working with us and all animals are kept in our home with our pets as family members. We are selective about what we take in as they will become ours permanently if not adopted or adoptable. We also very much like to give seniors and hospice dogs a comfortable place to spend there last days.

We have not been taking in pets in the past few years because we have too many seniors. However currently we can take seniors and puppies. We can also be a temporary home for animals that are displaced due to weather. We currently have an animal studies major working with us helping with the care of our animals.

Meet Lakisha she is a Chihuahua. She is a spayed female. She came to us terrified of all people and basically feral. She also has some skin allergies. Several years later we can now walk up to her and pick her up to hold but she is still scared and sometimes will try to run away,

She loves to be where I am. Her best buddy (Annabelle) is another white Chihuahua that belongs to my children. She is playful with several of our small dogs, but still hides if anyone other then those who love in my house come near. She also barks to alert me to anyone moving near her or myself or coming to the house.

She is precious and I love her. I had thought she would meet someone she would just bond with but other then myself that has not happened. So I will be happily keeping her with me.
