As we continue to work on introducing our foster cat, Hiker to our family of animals, it is going well with Murphy. Murphy is our small Chihuahua, and she believes the world revolves around her.

Learning that it does not is coming as quite a surprise! We are caling our foster Gary if we are able to adopt him, and do not worry- this will not confuse him- because he does not hear. Yes, he is deaf.

Timing is perfect because I curre have no cats upstairs. I brought Gary downstairs (our home), and we have several days to very slowly introduce him to our five animal family members.

Please cross your fingers and send us all the good vibes, because both my partner Don and I have lost our hearts to him. ❤️ 😻

The beauty, and trouble, with cats is that they are such creatures of habit!

6:30 is 6:30 and Gary meows LOUDER than any cat I've ever met.

Probably because he can't hear himself. 🐈‍⬛️ 😻

Since the cat is out of the bag (😺) to a handful of people, I may as well make an announcement.

I'm failing this foster cat. Failing big!

Hiker has stolen my heart... and, assuming we can integrate him into our family (with three dogs and two other cats), he will become our last pet for many years.

I am working with him on travel, beginning sign language, and researching all the ways to make his life not only the fullest but also the safest.

Don and I have both have ideas for names, but as I am the one that spends the most time with him, I get the first name (a rule I just made up). 😘

Hiker will be called Gary, Gary Murdock. He's been a Gary to me since he came home from the vet after his surgery. I look at him and I just see Gary. It doesn't matter to him- he will never hear his name.

Today he and I had coffee with friends outdoors and a brief trip to Petco, and then this experience. He handled it all in stride and it was a very good morning.

Big day for this little guy... vet visit- shots- drive in a harness and car seat with sunshine on his face!

If anyone has any first hand knowledge about raising a deaf cat, please let me know!
