As you can see, Hiker is waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs.

As soon as I open the door, I know that Hiker is lonely. He spends his nights Upstairs, alone, looking forward to me coming back up in the morning.

It breaks my heart for him, and I just know his person is out there.

If you know someone looking for the most special cat.. they don't have to have had cat experience before! They just need to not have a cat now.
I would love to talk to them about Hiker. He's going to make someone's next 20 years so much fun.

Suki has been with me during one of my busiest weeks since I've opened. She has the sweetest meow, and she has expressed to me that she'd like more of my attention.

Yesterday, the last of my other guests went home, and for the next few days, it's just her and her sister... just like I promised her.

Since then, she has been exactly where I am. If I'm seated, she's sitting on my lap. If I'm on the ground, she's in my face. She's been taking me up on my promise to spend every extra moment with her.

Even if her face doesn't show it, she's super happy to be the center of attention.

She has the loveliest pale green eyes and quite an intense stare. I'm really enjoying my one-on-one time with her, and I think she's enjoying it too. ❤️

This lovely gal has a lot of opinions and isn't afraid to tell them to me- so is very vocal! She has been here a week, and for many days I knew that she wanted to be with me... but wasn't quite sure how much she liked me... we talked a lot, and I tried every trick I have to win her over... just short of back flips 😹.

A few days ago she started giving me sweet kisses, and yesterday she started climbing right into my lap- staring into my eyes while letting me pet her all over, with the beginnings of purrs... and this morning I feel like I won the lottery- or, really, I had validation that I'm doing a good job...

Because, THIS! A cat who lays on its back like this, with its legs splayed out freely feels completely safe, relaxed, and deeply trusts me and its surroundings. 😻

(Because the belly contains all of a cat’s vital organs, exposing it is the ultimate sign of vulnerability.)

Now....her sister is another story. We are still climbing uphill, but she'll take treats from me and she is joining us in the playroom every day. Her personality is such that I'm considering that a huge win. ❤️

Hiker"helps" me makes breakfast for the other cats every morning. He's a sweet, sweet cat who does have special challenges and needs to be an only pet, but he will be so worth it to the right person!

It is Global Cat Day/National Feral Cat Day!
This is my cat Manny. His mother was feral, and she was trapped the day that he was born, a wonderful foster home took him in and kept him and his siblings with their mother for the first 5 weeks. She nursed them and took care of them in their garage. Then they took him out of her care and spent a couple weeks socializing the kittens, getting them ready to be adopted. He came to us as this scrawny little kitten and turned into a very vain, majestic black smoke kitty.

Global Cat Day is dedicated to humane care for all cats, including community and feral cats. TNR (trap, neuter, return) is the most effective and humane approach. I'm very grateful that Manny's mother was trapped and was able to be spayed after giving birth to his litter!

Third visit for this special kitten.

An unexpected joy, getting the opportunity to have kittens in my care that come back as they grow up and I am able to experience the pleasure of witnessing it, seeing how their personality develops, and being someone they know- therefore are comfortable with and trust- as they grow into adulthood!

So grateful for this work, and to have clients who bring their cats back to me, time and time again....

Cats do what they want anyway....but when you can get a mature lady-cat to play....enjoy it while it lasts!

Smoki here ends wvery play session as if she realized she forgot herself and doesn’t actually enjoy playing. She likes to insist she prefers pets. But I can get her to play... and I'm sure she enjoys it!

She is a little doll, sweet as candy!
