Wild Horizon Rescue & Sanctuary

Wild Horizon Rescue & Sanctuary Wild Horizon Rescue & Sanctuary is based on a 20-acre ranch near the Angeles National Forest.

We save dogs at LA shelters, and our sanctuary cares for dogs, horses and farm animals who need a safe place for life at Wild Horizon Farm. Wild Horizon Rescue & Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization founded by Thea Creasy rooted in compassion, responsibility, and second chances. Operating from a 20-acre working ranch and equine facility on the edge of Angeles National For

est, our rescue focuses first and foremost on saving dogs from high-risk situations in Los Angeles County and Los Angeles City shelters. We step in where the need is greatest—pulling dogs who are at risk due to overcrowding, medical needs, behavioral shutdown, or lack of resources. Many of the dogs who come to us have experienced stress, instability, or trauma. Our priority is to remove them from the shelter environment and give them the time, space, and structure they need to decompress. Once in our care, each dog enters a thoughtful rehabilitation process. This includes medical evaluation and treatment, behavioral observation, and daily routines that support emotional regulation and trust-building. We believe that successful adoption starts long before a dog meets a potential family. By allowing dogs to settle into a calm, rural environment, we are able to better understand who they are, what they need, and what type of home will allow them to thrive. Only after this process are dogs made available for adoption, with transparency and care taken to ensure the best possible match. Alongside our rescue work, Wild Horizon Sanctuary provides long-term and lifelong care for dogs and farm animals who are not adoptable due to age, medical conditions, or special needs. The sanctuary is an extension of our values, ensuring that every animal, regardless of outcome, is treated with dignity, safety, and respect. From dogs to horses and other rescued animals, sanctuary residents are given consistent care and the ability to live out their lives in peace. Wild Horizon Rescue & Sanctuary exists because the need is real and growing. We are committed to doing this work responsibly, sustainably, and with the animals’ best interests always at the center. Through rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and sanctuary care, we aim to make a meaningful and lasting impact, one life at a time.

We’re a little behind on posts, sorry!

Tango is safe because you helped us say yes.

This 5-year-old Black Mouth Cur was surrendered to North Central after being “too much” for his previous situation. Neighbors complained. There were too many kids around. The landlord didn’t want him there. Just like that, his time was up.

We’re still getting to know Tango, but here’s what we see already: a sensitive, intelligent boy who can be a little wary at first, especially with men, but warms up with patience and a slow approach. He’s been friendly with volunteers, loves pets and back scratches. We’re letting him decompress and settle in now that he’s out of danger.

Tango would thrive in an adult-only home that can provide structure, consistency, and both mental and physical enrichment. He doesn’t need perfection. He needs leadership, stability, and someone willing to see the good in him.

If you pledged for Tango, please honor your pledge through the link in our bio. If you’re experienced and looking to foster or adopt, send us a message. And please keep sharing so we can find him the right fit.

He was almost a statistic. Now let’s give him a future. 🤍

Dottie is soaking up every second of ranch life and honestly? She’s earned it.

She’s a 2-year-old French Bulldog who was found wandering the streets of Barstow with no one looking for her. After being pulled from Barstow Humane Society, she’s now exploring and making friends with every dog she meets, and logging serious lap time with anyone who will have her.

Dottie is everything you want in a Frenchie. Energetic but snuggly. Vocal but loving. A full-on people magnet who would thrive in an apartment, a house, a family with kids, or really anywhere her people are.

She’s even been introduced to farm animals and her reaction was priceless… she really didn’t know what to think of them ☺️

She’s up to date on vaccines, spay is coming soon, and she’s working on crate and house training like the good girl she is.

If you’ve been waiting for a Frenchie with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Dottie is your girl.

DM us to learn more.

It’s been a rough day filled with profound sadness. This isn’t the update we wanted to post.

Today we said goodbye to our most precious and sweet senior girl, Molly. We’re still in disbelief and our hearts are shattered.

After a very minor accident that was no one’s fault, we thought Molly had a lightly sprained leg. But when she still wouldn’t put pressure on it the next day, it was decided she needed to see the vet.

We all thought there was no way her leg was broken, the vet didn’t even suspect it. However, x-rays revealed Molly had actually fractured her leg due to bone cancer. The vet advised the fracture would never heal because the cancer was in the joint and was already pretty severe. He also cautioned bone cancer often metastasizes in the lungs.

Neither a wheelchair nor amputation were options because she wouldn’t have been able to support herself due to her hind leg arthritis — and because of the additional damaged caused from being mounted so many times for breeding.

Molly couldn’t stand or walk and was on a steady dose of pain meds. All she wanted was to follow her forever foster parents, Deanna and Mike, around and lay in the grass in the sun. Instead, she was confined to her bed, her quality of life greatly diminished.

We didn’t come to this lightly, but we collectively made the agonizing decision to let her go. We all agreed it was best to say goodbye on a good day rather than waiting and watching her suffer as she deteriorated in pain from her broken leg as the cancer spread.

Molly was surrounded by so much love in her final moments. Deanna and Mike, along with our volunteer who pulled and transported Molly from the shelter, were by her side. They made sure to spoil her and thanked her for coming into our lives. She was the most beautiful gift no one saw coming.

We’re so grateful to Deanna and Mike for giving her the best life possible and then some. For 12 days after leaving the shelter, Molly was loved like never before. Before that, she was loved by all of you, near and far, who rallied behind her and fought so hard to free her from the confines of such a dreadful place.

At 14yrs old, Molly was surrendered at the North Central shelter when she could no longer birth a profit for her owner. Our volunteer was already at the shelter to pull euth-listed Tango when she saw Molly’s post. It didn’t even take 5 minutes to decide we would pull her, too. For Deanna, it was love at first sight when she saw Molly’s post. Her heart immediately told her Molly needed to be with her.

We couldn’t have asked for better fosters. At Deanna and Mike’s, Molly was spoiled as she should have been all along. She was safe. She was warm. She was home. Molly knew it, too. Right away she settled in with her foster brothers, loving her comfy bed, gently snoring while she slept. She may not have had the full life she deserved, but she was deeply loved.

Another sad case of a dog getting surrendered to us, because the owner has gone into assisted living. This situation was incredibly sad, finding the home condition in horrible shape- the grandma was essentially found living in her recliner, with a portable toilet next to it. The home was not sanitary for humans to live in. This is not a post to shame anyone, but instead is a reminder to please physically go to older relatives homes and check in on them frequently, to help ensure things like this don’t happen to your loved ones. Senility can onset quickly, and it’s so important to take care of our older loved ones and the animals they love. If you have never had to see someone you love live in deplorable conditions, consider yourself lucky. It is heartbreaking to say the least. Frequent in person visits can help minimize the escalation of this by catching it early. If you don’t live near older relatives, befriend a neighbor or person in their friend group. Try to take care of those who are able to help care for your loved ones. It takes a village. Also please encourage all loved ones with beloved pets to make arrangements for their furry family members in case something should happen to them. It may be a hard conversation to have, but it can bring peace of mind knowing their animals have a solid plan in place to be taken care of, even after they are no longer around. Miss Molly is now at her foster-to-adopt home!! From the sounds of it, she couldn’t be more pleased! ☺️ Be sure to follow her adventures on her very own IG account

Last Thursday, we were at the North Central shelter to pull Tango when we found out about 14yr old Molly. No dog should be in a shelter, much less a senior. There was no indecision, we couldn’t leave her there.

👉 Sharing posts works❕If it weren’t for all of you who were dedicated to busting her out of there, we wouldn’t have known about her. It’s truly special how these pups have so many caring people rallying around them.

We’re eternally grateful to who knew as soon as she saw Molly that Molly needed to be with her. As you can see, Molly has found her people. When you know, you know.

Next up is a trip to the vet on Thursday to get a complete picture of Molly’s overall health. We couldn’t have made this possible without your pledges, thank you all again for your generosity!

Is she a living teddy bear or polar bear? 😍 Meet sweet girl Eris who needs a foster or adopter 🐾❤️

A transporter was at the North Central shelter for another dog when two women walked in, crying, forced to surrender Eris because their landlord said she had to go. They’ve loved her since she was a puppy. She’s 8 years old and suddenly trying to understand why her whole world changed.

And let us tell you… she is the sweetest creature!! Truly!

Today she spent time with the chiweenies and big dogs, and loved every single one of them! She doesn’t bark. She’s house trained. She’s gentle, lovely, and perfectly content to just be near you. It’s almost like she’s quietly asking, “You’re nice and all… but where are my people?”

Eris is current on all vaccines and ready for a foster or forever home. What she needs most right now is stability, softness, and someone willing to love an 8-year-old girl who has so much love left to give.

If you can foster or adopt Eris, please send us a message. Let’s get this sweet soul home. 🤍
