OKLAHOMA RESCUE FRIENDS — WE COULD USE YOUR CONNECTIONS TO HELP TWO DOGS (read more below)
We are helping a person whom we met through one of the amazing helpers of this page in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, find a safe, responsible rescue or placement path for two much-loved dogs whose circumstances have changed. Their owner Peggy, has passed, and her family cannot care for the dogs, and are opting to euthanize them. I would like to see if we can help these dogs find a different future in a loving home.
Rowdy is approximately 10 years old, a neutered male believed to be a Pug/Chihuahua mix. He is active for his age, affectionate, loves being close to his person, and is especially comfort-seeking during storms.
Paisley is approximately 7 years old, a medium-sized female mix believed to have some Corgi / Jack Russell / Cattle Dog in her. She is described as smart, attentive and responsive to her person.
These dogs have lived as indoor companion animals and are currently safe. Their caregiver has agreed to keep them while the right rescue or home is found and is also willing to drive/transport them for a legitimate placement.
There are some things a rescue will need to work through. Their veterinary records are limited, vaccination history needs to be established, and Rowdy has a longstanding cough/tracheal concern that should be documented by a veterinarian.
We are already researching and contacting rescues in Tahlequah, Muskogee, Wagoner, Claremore, Tulsa, Northwest Arkansas and the surrounding region, including Pug/short-nose rescues, senior-dog contacts, foster-based rescues and humane organizations.
What would help enormously is a direct connection.
Do you personally know:
🐾 a foster coordinator in Oklahoma or Northwest Arkansas?
🐾 someone with Pug, Chihuahua or short-nose rescue experience?
🐾 a senior-dog rescue contact?
🐾 a rescue director who may be willing to let the current caregiver continue fostering while the rescue manages vetting and adoption?
🐾 a reputable organization with transport or transfer partners?
Please comment with a rescue/contact, tag someone who may have a direct connection, or share this post into Oklahoma rescue networks.
Thank you for continuing to be the kind of community that helps animals—and people—when they need somewhere to turn. ❤️🐾
