Annie and Woody both earned their SHR titles this weekend at the Ohio HRC Hunt Test! 🦆♥️

One aspect of hunt tests that I didn’t expect was the community. At most tests we see friends we’ve trained with, past judges who have kindly offered valuable advice (and maybe even a pink duck call to match my pink whistle 🩷), and make new friends to cheer on. I’m grateful for the people we’ve met along the way and already looking forward to Seasoned!

Summer has been flying by! It’s been a busy one for sure. Here are some updates:

Annie passed her 4th junior hunt test yesterday! She has shown excellent marking ability, focus, and drive and makes even new elements look easy. Woody is just 1 pass away from his own JH.

Both Annie and Woody passed their CGC tests! 💙💛

Woody received his BCAT at the White River Golden Retriever Club Fast CAT. Although Fast CAT isn’t something we spend a ton of time doing, the dogs always have a blast.

Annie received her second SHR pass and Woody his second and third at the Ohio River HRC test in June. The judges were awesome at this event! One judge was so sweet and gave me a pink duck call after seeing my pink whistle. Hunt tests have taught me that dogs, especially young dogs, aren’t always predictable. Sometimes they do something at a test that they’ve never done in training. There’s always something new to learn and work on! I’m so proud of both of these dogs for what they’ve accomplished, especially with our limited amount of training time 🧡

Annie is a S.T.A.R. puppy! While future performance titles are our ultimate goal, a strong foundation in basic obedience and handling is key to achieving them 🏵️

One year ago, Sully was very sick and had to be hospitalized. We weren’t sure why he was so sick or why he wasn’t improving despite treatment. He’d lost weight, wasn’t eating, and seemed like a shell of himself. On one of his rougher days, I asked him to please make it to his 1st birthday party. After a few days of supportive care, meds, and a new hydrolyzed diet, our boy was doing well enough to come home. He made it to his birthday party and has done SO much in the last year. We love our Sully boy and couldn’t imagine our lives without him ❤️
