Though they may not look it, these two are the biggest gentle giants ☮️

Some of the most misunderstood breeds are also the most loving, loyal, and eager to please. Breeds that have a high workability, like Corsos, GSDs, and more, have generations of thoughtful breeding that encourages them to want to keep going, and going, and going 💨

In your average home, this may look like frequent pushiness, reactivity or anxiety. Frequent exercise is great, but it is important to flex those mental muscles to ensure to stave off the over-excitability!

Reggie came to BRK9 initially to help work through resource guarding and establish obedience control.

⏩ 4 months and he’s well on his way to getting his therapy certification 📝

This boy is the absolute sweetest and today’s visit is just a testament to what clear training and clear follow through can provide a pup that doesn’t understand their expectations. Reggie has been exceeding expectations ever since our first session and I have no doubt that he’ll continue to impress for years to come 😁

Hot days like this are when we need to think for our dogs because they won’t always stop themselves 🔥🛑

It doesn’t take much for a dog to overheat. Just because they’re willing to keep going doesn’t mean they should. Be aware of signs like heavy panting and/or slowed movement. A dog’s drive can push them past their limit, so never assume they’ll stop themselves! 💦🐾

Sheltering your dog from stress might feel like the right thing… but it creates many more problems than it solves! 😩

It may feel good in the moment to comfort or protect, but what you end up with is a dog that NEEDS you to feel okay and that’s not fair to them. Real growth happens when we teach them how to cope with the uncertainty they feel 🛡️

The more “bulletproof” you can make your dog, the more places they can(and want) to go, more things they can experience, resulting in less stress running their life. We can be sympathetic to their stress, but outwardly clear about how to respond in a way that encourages confidence!

Meet Chloe! 👋🏼

She’s a gorgeous pup from Brick City Rescue who started training with me to work through some intense play behavior with her housemate and to build better overall obedience when excitement takes over. She’s sweet, loving, and we’re already making strides on addressing her behavior in a way that she’s responding well to.

Keep an eye out for this girl… Chloe’s just getting started! 😊 🕺🏼

Kohrie at our puppy class this past week! 🐶🐾

I’m very proud of how the attendants of the puppy class are taking to the work we’re doing each week. It’s been gratifying to see as much progress in such a short time 👌🏼⏳

From leash skills to place work, these pups are building a solid foundation that’ll set them up for success long term. I’m genuinely excited to see where this class takes their training journey.

We all have to start somewhere! Today is the perfect day to get started with Beaver Run K9. Reach out and let’s get you into class/training!☀️
