🏈🐴 FRIDAY NIGHT UNDER THE LIGHTS! 🐴🏈

There’s nothing quite like Friday night football in Acadiana! 🌙🏟️

Tonight, the Lafayette Police Mounted Patrol Unit will be out with Police Mounts Rio & Bud for the much-anticipated matchup between the Carencro Bears 🐻 and the LCA Knights ⚔️!

Two great local programs. One big Friday night matchup. 🏈🔥

Rio and Bud will be patrolling throughout the evening, helping keep everyone safe while taking in one of the great traditions of our community.

👋 If you see us, come say hello, meet Rio & Bud, and grab a picture! 📸🐴 We always enjoy getting a chance to visit with the community—especially our younger football fans!

They watched him clock out for the last time, but unfortunately for them, somebody still has to work around here! 👮‍♂️🐴

🐴🚨 LEVI RETIREMENT UPDATE 🚨🐴

Well folks… we finally got our first pictures of retired life from former LPD Police Mount Levi. 💙

And judging by the photos, retirement appears to be VERY stressful. 😂

🌱 Eating grass
☀️ Soaking up the sunshine
🐴 Wandering around the farm
🚔 Zero calls for service
📝 Zero reports to write
👮 Zero crowds to patrol

After years of serving the Lafayette community, Levi has officially traded the streets of Lafayette for greener pastures — literally! 😂🌾

Now his only assignment is simple:

Eat. Relax. Repeat. 🐴🌱😎

🐾💙🚔 WELCOME TO THE LAFAYETTE POLICE DEPARTMENT! 🚔💙🐾

The Friends of the Lafayette Police Department K9 Unit are proud to welcome the newest four-legged, furry member of the Lafayette Police Department! 🐶💙

Under the direction of Chief Paul Trouard, the Lafayette Police Department has acquired the first certified explosive detection K9 in the department’s history! 💥🐕‍🦺

Our newest K9 is a 2-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer who is almost finished with her explosive detection training. 🎓🐾 Once she hits the streets, she’ll be utilized throughout the city at various events, schools, venues, and public functions to help keep our community safe. 🚔🏫🎪🏟️

But don’t let the serious job fool you — she is EXTREMELY friendly and loves kids! 🥰🐶👧👦 If you see her out and about and she’s not working, ask her handler if you can meet her and say hello! 🐾

We’re excited to see what her career with LPD brings and even more excited to find out one other important detail…
