Ashland Estate’s Living History weekend 2026 is in the books! I have so much gratitude for all the ladies and gentlemen that helped make this weekend possible. From new friends in Kentucky who volunteered to bring horses, to a whole crew who drove from Knoxville to work the booth, I couldn’t be more pleased with how this weekend went! Thank you Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate for hosting this lovely event and for allowing us to be a part of it and help educate about sidesaddle riding. This property has had a long history of horses and racing. In the early 1800s Henry Clay bred and raced thoroughbreds here. There was even a racetrack on the property that held fabulous and grand events. In the later years when one of Henry Clay’s granddaughters took over, they switched to breeding and racing standardbred horses that raced with carts. The house would have been a pillar in the community with people constantly coming and going. A lot of politics and wining and dining must have happened there! The Clay daughters and granddaughters were classy women and we can imagine that they certainly would have ridden around in sidesaddles if they weren’t in a carriage. It felt very magical to get to bring this little bit of history back to life! It was such a privilege getting to ride at such an incredible property and to have the ability to share our passion for horses, history, and fashion.
