Guys, when we posted yesterday that we needed dog food we got alot of comments that were not very nice. We didn't ask for cash, but for food off our wishlist. I know that alot of other animal organizations do the same thing.
I was also told I should turn the dogs over to another rescue. We are a SANCTUARY! Alot of people don't seem to know the difference between rescue and sanctuary, so here goes.........
*** Dog Rescue: A dog rescue organization is typically a non-profit entity that saves dogs from shelters, abusive situations, or neglect. Rescues often operate with a network of foster homes where dogs receive care and training until they are adopted. Their primary goal is to find permanent homes for these dogs, often specializing in specific breeds or types of dogs.
*** Dog Sanctuary: A dog sanctuary, on the other hand, is a facility that provides a permanent home for dogs that may not be adoptable due to age, health issues, or behavioral problems. Sanctuaries focus on the long-term care and well-being of these animals, ensuring they have a safe and loving environment for the rest of their lives.

Howdy, everybody!

As I shared earlier this month, East Tennessee Bloodhound Rescue is officially closing as a rescue and transitioning to a sanctuary. While we will no longer be taking in new dogs, please don’t forget about the old guys who are already here. They are here for a reason, and they will continue to need our love, care, and support as they live out their golden years.

Many of you know that for years I have made quilts and hosted drawings to help support the hounds. Unfortunately, arthritis in my hands has made quilting much more difficult. Because of that, I will be making only three more quilts before the end of the year, and then this long tradition will likely come to an end.

There are a lot of changes happening here, and we need your help now more than ever.

This is the first of those final three quilts—and it will be the last Bloodhound-themed quilt I make. It is truly a beauty, measuring approximately 70” x 86”, made from 100% cotton with warm, natural batting. I’m very proud of this one and hope you’ll love it as much as I do!

Do we have 1200 facebook fans and rescue followers and friends who will donate just 1.00 dollar to our rescue? To Our East Tennessee Bloodhound Rescue Family,

After much thought and with heavy hearts, we want to share an important update regarding East Tennessee Bloodhound Rescue.

For over 20 years, ETBR has been a safe haven for neglected, abused, abandoned, and unwanted Bloodhounds. Thanks to your support, countless hounds have received a second chance at life, love, and security.

At this time, we will be placing a pause on accepting new intakes for the foreseeable future.

This decision has not been made lightly. Our Director, Pattye Elliott, is currently facing significant health challenges, including epilepsy, frequent falls, dizziness, slight vision loss, and other medical concerns that make it increasingly difficult to manage the large number of dogs that come through our program. While her dedication to these hounds remains unwavering, it has become necessary to step back and focus on maintaining the highest quality of care for the dogs already in our sanctuary.

Our immediate goal is to continue providing a safe, loving home and exceptional care for the senior Bloodhounds currently in our rescue. We remain hopeful that this pause will be temporary and that we will be able to resume accepting new hounds in the future.

As we navigate this transition, we humbly ask for your support. Donations will help us provide food, medications, veterinary care, and daily necessities for the current seniors in our care through the remainder of this year and into the beginning of next year. Contributions can be made through monetary donations or Chewy gift cards, both of which directly benefit the dogs.
