Meet Ellie, one of the four co-owners of North Star K9! 💚💙
Bet you didn’t think your dog was going to learn how to run through a field OFF LEASH while their trainer was riding a horse, did you? 🐕🐎
That’s the kind of thing Ellie loves.
Ellie has a knack for looking at a dog and seeing what’s possible — sometimes before the owner even realizes it.
She’s particularly in her element with the drivey dogs. Border Collies. Heelers. High-energy working breeds. The dogs who wake up every morning with approximately 47 ideas about what they could be doing instead of whatever you had planned. 😂
Those dogs don’t necessarily need someone to make them less dog.
They need someone to help them learn how to channel all that energy while staying mentally connected to their person.
And that’s where Ellie shines.
She wants to tap into what makes a dog tick — their drive, their curiosity, their desire to work — and turn that into a relationship where the dog can move through the world with freedom while still knowing:
“We’re a team. I know where my person is, and I have some brain space left for them.”
Because the goal isn’t just:
“Look! My dog can do obedience!”
It’s:
“Look! My dog can go be a DOG and still choose to come back to me.”
That’s a pretty incredible thing.
Whether she’s working with a dog in a training field, exploring the outdoors, or doing something slightly ridiculous on horseback, Ellie loves helping dogs learn that being connected to their person doesn’t mean they have to stop being themselves.
So if you have one of those dogs who seems to be powered by a combination of caffeine, rocket fuel, and questionable decision-making…
Ellie might be your girl. 😂
If Ellie has helped you and your dog discover something you didn’t know was possible, tell us about it! What did she help your dog accomplish? What potential did she see in your dog?
We want to hear your Ellie stories! 💚💙
