Sunday, we had to say goodbye to our sweet Rufus, and there are no words that can truly describe the heartbreak we are feeling. šš¾
Rufus was never ājust a dog.ā He was my husbandās partner, his protector, his constant companion, and his best friend. The bond those two shared was something truly specialābuilt on trust, love, loyalty, and a connection that words could never fully explain. Rufus was there beside him through the good days and the difficult ones. He knew when my husband needed him without a word ever being spoken.
For my husband, losing Rufus means losing a part of his everyday life and a companion who was always there. For our family, it means coming home to a space that feels painfully empty. We keep expecting to see him, hear him, or find him right where he always was. Itās the little things that hurt the most.
Rufus gave our family a kind of love that only a dog can giveācompletely unconditional, unwavering, and without ever asking for anything in return. He was a beautiful soul who made our lives better simply by being in them.
We are heartbroken, but we are also incredibly grateful. Grateful for every day we were given with him. Grateful for the memories. Grateful for the comfort he brought. And most of all, grateful for the extraordinary bond he shared with my husband.
Rufus, you were loved more than you could ever have known. You were our family, our faithful companion, and a very important piece of our hearts. Your paw prints will forever be there.
Until we see you again, sweet Rufus. You will never, ever be forgotten. ā¤ļøš¾
