Taking in found kittens, giving them away unfixed, and not fixing mom only keeps the cycle going, even when people mean well.
Found some kittens and really want to help them? Read below ⬇️
Finder Foster programs are such an important part of rescue. It not only helps us save more lives, but gives people who find kittens a way to truly be part of the solution.
A lot of people want to help, they just don’t know how. Finder fostering gives them the chance to step up by caring for the kittens they found while we help guide them through the process.
We work alongside our finder fosters with support, supplies when available, and even house calls to help make sure the kittens are healthy, growing, and staying on track as seen in the pictures.
This program also helps take some of the pressure off rescues during kitten season when ALL rescues and shelters are overwhelmed and stretched thin. When finders are willing to foster temporarily, it allows rescues and shelters to help more animals overall instead of turning animals away due to lack of space.
One of the biggest reasons this program matters is because responsibility matters. I will say this again for those in the back.
🗣️ TAKING IN FOUND KITTENS, GIVING THEM AWAY UNFIXED, AND NOT FIXING MOM ONLY KEEPS THE CYCLE GOING, EVEN WHEN PEOPLE MEAN WELL. By working with rescue and making sure kittens are properly vetted and fixed before adoption, finder fosters are helping address the root of the problem instead of unintentionally adding to it.
And yes, that poor mama cat and that h***y Tom cat will be getting fixed too!
