Y’all, I just have to take a moment to show off sweet little Maxton! This handsome chocolate Pomeranian is officially eight weeks old, and he just so happens to be the biggest little man in his litter! But don’t let his size fool you, because we like to call him our gentle giant. 🥹

Because Maxton is incredibly timid, gentle, and an absolute cuddle bug! I’m telling y’all, this little man could spend the ENTIRE day nestled in your arms, snuggled up against your face, just soaking up every bit of love and affection you’re willing to give him. And believe me, I’m not complaining!

But…here’s the funny thing about Maxton… he is VERY selective when it comes to giving out kisses! In fact, believe it or not, but he has yet to give a single one of us a kiss yet?!

NOT EVEN ONE!

And trust me, it’s certainly not from a lack of trying! So now we’re all wondering who’s going to be the lucky one to receive Maxton’s very first kiss. Will it be one of us, or is this little gentleman saving all his kisses for his forever family?

Wouldn’t that be something?! If that’s the case, it would actually be a first for us over here at Blessed Little Paws! And I have to admit, there would be something pretty special about that.

I also wanted to give y’all a little glimpse of the difference between some of our smaller Pomeranians and those who are growing closer to that eight-pound range! I know so many people absolutely adore the teeny-tiny Poms, but believe it or not, I’ve always had a soft spot for the bigger, fluffier ones! My personal favorite size is actually around 8–10 pounds! There’s just something about having a little extra Pom to snuggle that makes my heart happy.

We don’t see too many of those sizes over here, so whenever I get the opportunity to love on a slightly bigger little fluffball, you better believe I’m getting ALL those cuddles in while I can!

And can we talk about those gorgeous hazel eyes?! I’m curious what y’all think of them! I’ve noticed that we tend to see these beautiful hazel shades in chocolate Pomeranians, blue Poms, sometimes lavenders, and even beavers! But more than anything, I seem to notice them in our chocolates, and I just think they’re absolutely stunning! There’s something about those warm hazel eyes paired with that rich chocolate coat that gets me every time.

Now, who’s placing bets on whether Maxton will give us his first kiss or save it for his forever family?! 😜

Alright, y’all, before the puppy car seat police come for me, I don’t always let the pups free roam in the car! However, around here, like to make sure they are as comfortable as possible. So if that means snuggling them a wee bit to get them used to things, that’s how we do it.

I know, I know… somebody somewhere is already clutching their pearls! 🤣🙈

Now, I realize that’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and I completely respect that! Our goal is always to keep our pups comfortable and, of course, avoid getting into an accident in the first place, because goodness gracious, that would be terrifying regardless!

That said, most of our little ones don’t mind the carriers or car seats. But we also like to get them acclimated. So, feel free to judge us if you must! Although, for the record, a properly secured carrier really is definitely the safer way to travel. However, my Willow is often sleeping on my lap for travels.

ANYWHO… back to the update!

So… my husband and I decided to take little Miss Piper along with us while we ran some errands this morning! We are hoping to get this sweet girl a little more acclimated to car rides. And let me tell you something… this little lady is FEARLESS!

Not only is she completely unbothered by riding in the car, but she wants to see EVERYTHING!

She’s not content just sitting in her seat and enjoying the ride. Oh no! This curious little lady wants a front-row view of all the action happening outside! I think Piper might just be the very first puppy I’ve had who actually WANTS to perch on my shoulders like a little parrot!

Now, I have to ask y’all something! How many of you have a Pomeranian (or another pup) who loves sitting on your shoulders? And does anyone else have a dog who genuinely LOVES being on your lap during car rides?

I’m talking about a pup who doesn’t whine, cry, or get nervous, but instead wants to take in every little sight along the way! Because Piper sure seems to think car rides are her own personal sightseeing adventure!

“If you don’t like me”….I’ll be right here living my best life! Getting puppy snuggles and kisses and making amazing memories with so many adorable fur babies! Just like these sweethearts from over a year ago.

Boy, does time fly!

This is still one of my top two favorite memories ever. Every one of these little fur babies loved being by my side, and they each got to go to wonderful homes!

I feel truly blessed to spend my days with so many wonderful Pomeranian babies! Moments like this remind me to focus on the good, keep a kind heart, and enjoy the life I love.

All right, y’all! Its Autumns turn! I had to show you little Autumn’s four-week photo alongside a more recent one. Especially as she is getting closer and closer to eight weeks old.

I can’t believe how fast the time is going…but look at how adorable this little lady is! She truly fits her name, and this time of year couldn’t be more fitting. To everyone who helped with the names and inspired us with this one, thank you.

That said, over the next couple of days, you’ll be seeing lots of videos of Autumn and little Piper. Their litter has been so nicely balanced: both girls have a sweet, affectionate side and an adorable playful side. Over the next week I am so excited to see what makes each of them unique! That is one of my favorite parts of raising puppies!

Little Piper has been adorable every step of the way! Just look at the difference between her at four weeks old and now at seven and a half weeks old! What a fun little transformation to watch. I’m thinking he will be more of a darker sable Pom when he is matured. But the red under color and nice pattern on his legs so sharp! It is always so fun to watch the transitions.

That said…what name do you all think fits this little guys coloring? So far, he’s got a nice balanced temperament too.

Let’s talk about low blood sugar and feeding tiny puppies!!

If you’re considering a Pomeranian expected to mature under five pounds, this is something to learn about before bringing your puppy home. Very small, young toy-breed puppies can be especially vulnerable to hypoglycemia because their bodies have limited energy reserves and are still developing. Puppies of any size can have low blood sugar, though, and being under five pounds isn’t a medical cutoff. It just tends to be much more common when they are smaller.

This is why a consistent feeding routine matters, and for our tiniest puppies, having appropriate food available between meals can be an important part of their care. I also like to monitor that they’re actually eating and offer small meals or hand-feed as needed. Free-feeding by itself is not a guarantee against low blood sugar, so ask your veterinarian for a feeding plan tailored to your puppy.

Shaking, weakness, unusual sleepiness, wobbliness, or poor coordination can be warning signs! So please contact a vet promptly if you see them.

Tiny puppies bring so much joy, but they need thoughtful, attentive care.

Our little Pip left us for his forever home, and we couldn’t be happier for him! From the moment he started to develop, this little man had the sweetest curious soul. We hope he never loses his sense of adventure…or his big heart for affection and cuddles!

I’m going to miss playing fetch with the wee little pup, but I know his new family will fill his days with plenty of love, fun, and snuggles. We’re so happy for you, Pip!
