❤️ CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT WHAT IT REALLY MEANS TO SUPPORT A SMALL BUSINESS? ❤️
I recently read a post (below) that really hit home, and as a small business owner, I felt every single word of it.
Let me tell you a little about what goes on behind the scenes at Sunshine Treats KS Freeze Dried REBEL FD Pet Treats & Breast Milk Preservation Freeze Dried FD.
We are not some big corporation with unlimited money, huge production lines, or employees working around the clock.
We are a SMALL, locally owned business.
We have employees to pay, expensive equipment to purchase and maintain, rent at SIX different locations, utilities, insurance, licensing, packaging, ingredients, vendor fees, and a list of expenses that seems to NEVER end (I'm not complaining)
And that's just the financial side of things!
What people don't see are the countless hours spent creating recipes, designing products, testing new ideas, making labels, packaging products, loading and unloading equipment, stocking locations, and working events.
There are days I work 12–14 HOURS, and guess what?
Sometimes I don't even get a paycheck.
Because when you own a small business, everyone else and every bill gets paid before you do.
Here's something that really gets me...
People will walk into a big retail store and spend MORE money on a bag of mass-produced freeze-dried candy, dog treats without thinking twice (and let me tell you product is awful).
But when they see a small business selling freeze-dried products, suddenly the price is questioned.
WHY? 🤷♀️
We purchase our ingredients. We create our own recipes. We operate our own freeze dryers. We package our own products. We put our hearts, our time, and our own money into what we sell.
We aren't just selling a bag of freeze-dried goodies. We're selling something we've worked incredibly hard to create.
Believe me, if I could give everything away for free and still pay my bills, I probably would! 😂❤️
But that's not how running a business works.
I completely understand that money is tight. TRUST ME, I DO!
Not everyone can afford everything, and that's perfectly okay.
But please remember that behind that price tag is a real person. A family. Employees who depend on their jobs. Bills that have to be paid. And someone who has probably sacrificed more time, sleep, and personal income than you'll ever know.
When you shop with a small business, you're not helping some billionaire buy another vacation home.
You're helping a local business keep its doors open, pay its employees, support other local businesses, and continue doing something it loves.
To those of you who continue to show up, shop with us, share our posts, recommend us to friends, and support our crazy ideas...
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH YOU MEAN TO US! 🥹❤️
Because of YOU, Sunshine Treats/Rebel Pet Treats & Breast Milk Preservation continues to grow, create, and bring new things to our community.
We're not trying to become millionaires.
We're just trying to build something we're proud of, make an honest living, and keep doing what we love.
So the next time you see a small business's prices, please remember...
You're not just paying for the product. You're supporting everything it took to get that product into your hands.
❤️ SHOP SMALL. SUPPORT LOCAL. BE KIND. ❤️
And I'm genuinely curious...
Why is it that we'll pay premium prices to big corporations without hesitation, but question the prices of the small businesses right here in our own community? 👀
