What an incredible DDT Group Class, over Leash Walking & Socialization! 🐾🐕‍🦺

These doggies put in some amazing work, sharpening their leash-walking skills while learning to stay calm and focused around 7 other dogs‼️ Once they had practiced together, we took those skills into the real world with a trip to the Louisburg Farmers Market!

Every dog made huge progress, and it was so rewarding to watch both the dogs and their owners grow in confidence! 💜



I’m so proud of everyone who came out and put in the work! 🦮💪🏼

There’s no better way to spend a Saturday morning than training in my hometown of Louisburg! 🥰

You would have no idea that one of these doggies is fearful, one is reactive and one is just a 5 month old puppy!

I can’t wait for the next group class—hope to see you and your pup there!!

Max

Max enrolled in my Puppy Program where we start with socialization ensuring he becomes a well rounded pup. Once he’s older around 5/6 months we start to hit heavy on obedience and manners!!

Does your doggie lick you while you’re petting them? 👀🐶

You might think it’s a doggie kiss, but sometimes it’s actually your pup’s polite way of saying, “Eh… not there, please.” 😂

In this video, Zaky is a great example. He absolutely loves affection, but he has opinions about where he likes to be pet!

When I scratch under his chin and around his neck, his body stays loose and relaxed, and his face looks soft and happy. But when I move to the top and sides of his head, he starts licking his lips and giving me little licks.

Many dogs use lip licking as a calming signal when they’re feeling a little uncomfortable or conflicted. Sometimes those licks are a dog’s way of saying, “Can we do something different?”

Watch what happens when I stop petting him completely—he immediately moves closer and nudges my hand for more attention! That tells us he enjoys the affection; he just prefers it in certain spots.

🐾 Try this with your own dog!
If your pup starts licking you while you’re petting them, switch to a different area like their chest, shoulders, or under the chin and see if their body language changes.

Remember: every dog has their own preferences, and learning what they enjoy helps build trust and communication.

This fine young gentleman is a true working dog at heart. After a refresher in obedience and plenty of practice out in public, he learned to trade his barking fits for calm, focused behavior.
