When it's your calling; it will keep calling
Coming home from dinner yesterday we saw a beagle run into a busy street and tragically get hit by a car. We were headed the opposite direction and by the time we could safely turn around, the car had pulled over, 2 young adults had the dog on the side of the road and she has passed away.
Everyone was in shock, the driver was talking to 911, the owner was distraught and someone was screaming from a house nearby. The dog accidentally slipped out the front door and was struck and killed immediately. I checked vitals and helped wrap this very loved pet in a blanket. I was trying to calm down the driver and explain options to the owner to have her sweet girl's body taken care of.
Her first words 'will they charge us'? Yes, she was traumatized and no, people should not have to be thinking about how they can afford end of life care for their beloved furry family members.
This is what Piper's Promise is for. Her legacy will bring peace in the most terrible of times. Her love will be spread wherever it is needed.
