Every year on this day, we share this message — a reminder of gratitude, courage, and the power of one person choosing compassion.
Eleven years ago today, horrific and tragic events occurred in Roadrunner’s life.
While Animal Control, KC Pet Project staff and volunteers, the media, and eventually a large part of the community had a hand in making sure Roadie was ultimately safe, none of that may have ever happened if one person hadn’t made the decision to get help for our little guy.
So, today, on the anniversary of Roadrunner’s life-changing day, we give gratitude to the person who made that phone call — the person who decided to interrupt their own Sunday instead of turning away, instead of minding their own business, instead of hoping that someone else would do something.
We give appreciation to the person who chose to be a voice for one who could not speak for himself. Without that person’s actions, Roadie may have died a painful, lonely death. Because of that person, Roadie instead received help and will know love and safety every single day for the rest of his life.
You may never see this message, but we hope you somehow know what a difference you have made.
THANK YOU!!
