☀️ Beat the Heat: Keeping Your Pup Safe This Summer

At Château Paws KC, we love sunshine ☀️ and outdoor play—but your pup’s safety always comes first!

🐶 Hot Weather Tips

🌡️ Walk during cooler hours.
Early mornings and evenings are much safer than the heat of the afternoon.

💧 Keep fresh water available.
Offer frequent water breaks, even during short outdoor play sessions.

🌳 Seek shade often.
Take regular breaks in shaded areas to help your pup cool down.

🐾 Protect those paws.
If the pavement is too hot for your hand after 5–7 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle.
Even with the windows cracked, temperatures can become dangerous within minutes.

😓 Know the signs of overheating.
Watch for excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, bright red gums, or confusion. If you notice these signs, move your dog to a cool area, offer cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact your veterinarian immediately.

❤️ When in doubt, head inside.
A cool nap in the air conditioning is sometimes the best summer activity!
