SDG Goldens

SDG Goldens Ethically raised English Cream Golden Retrievers in our home with our family. OFA & Embark tested. AKC registered. It can also make training easier.

Puppy Culture, ENS, ESI, and early socialization with purpose, focusing on health, structure, and strong foundations. At SDG Goldens, we are dedicated to raising exceptional English Cream Golden Retrievers that excel as loving companions, therapy dogs, service dogs, and emotional support animals (ESAs). By focusing on health, early development, structured socialization, and training, we prepare ou

r puppies for a lifetime of success in their new homes. Our breeding program prioritizes health and longevity to ensure our puppies have the best start in life. We carefully select European-imported English Golden Retrievers with outstanding pedigrees and conduct comprehensive OFA health and genetic testing to prevent hereditary conditions. With a 2-year health guarantee, our families can have peace of mind knowing their puppy comes from a responsible, health-conscious breeding program. We follow the Puppy Culture® training program, which focuses on developing intelligence, confidence, and resilience in young puppies. This program includes:
-Desensitization to sounds & environments: Exposing puppies to household noises, medical equipment, wheelchairs, and different surfaces to prepare them for therapy and service work as well as give them confidence to new experiences in general.
-Problem-solving & enrichment activities: Teaching puppies how to navigate challenges, making them highly trainable for advanced commands.
-Emotional stability training: Encouraging puppies to recover quickly from stress and distractions, a crucial trait for service and therapy dogs as well as pets that are taken out in public.
-Crate training – Making housebreaking and travel easier.
-Basic manners – positive reinforcement teaching early manners to help the puppies understand the best way to communicate. For example: puppies will sit to be petted instead of jumping on someone.
-Social confidence – Preparing puppies to be calm and well-mannered in new situations. By integrating Puppy Culture, our puppies are well-prepared to become confident, well-adjusted, and adaptable companions. To enhance the mental and physical resilience of our puppies, we incorporate two crucial early development techniques:
-ENS (Days 3–16): This involves gentle exercises designed to stimulate the neurological system, improving cardiovascular health, stress tolerance, and adaptability—key traits for service and therapy dogs.
-ESI (Days 3–16): Exposing puppies to different scents strengthens their olfactory senses, making them more adept at scent work, which is beneficial for therapy, service, and emotional support roles. By implementing ENS and ESI, our puppies develop stronger problem-solving skills, emotional stability, and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly. Socialization & Community Exposure: Preparing for Public Life
Proper socialization is essential for all puppies. At SDG Goldens, we provide structured socialization experiences, including:
-Raised in our home: Puppies live in a loving household, experiencing daily activities, ensuring they are comfortable in real-life environments. We homeschool our children in our livingroom, right next to the puppy pen.
-Interacting with children and adults: Our five children and visiting friends expose puppies to people of all ages, fostering gentle and patient temperaments.
-Weekly nursing home visits: Starting at six weeks old, we introduce puppies to elderly individuals, wheelchairs, and medical equipment, preparing them for future therapy and service work.
-Exposure to different environments: Outings to public places help puppies develop calm and confident behavior in various settings. These socialization experiences create well-rounded puppies that are comfortable accompanying their owners in public, interacting with different people, and handling unpredictable environments.

Our structured early development program makes our puppies ideal candidates for:
-Service Dogs – With emotional stability, intelligence, and problem-solving skills, our puppies excel in roles assisting individuals with disabilities, mobility impairments, and medical alerts.
-Therapy Dogs – Our puppies’ early socialization with diverse people and environments helps them provide comfort in hospitals, schools, and nursing homes.
-Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) – With gentle temperaments and strong bonds with humans, our puppies bring comfort and companionship to individuals struggling with anxiety, PTSD, and depression. When you adopt an SDG Golden, you become part of our family for life. We provide:
-Ongoing guidance – Support with training, behavior, and health.
-A community of SDG puppy owners – Stay connected with us and fellow owners for shared experiences and advice.
-Transparency – We welcome families to visit our home to see how we raise our puppies with love and dedication.

At SDG Goldens, we are more than breeders—we are devoted to raising well-rounded, highly trainable English Cream Golden Retrievers that make exceptional family pets, therapy dogs, service dogs, and emotional support animals. We look forward to welcoming you into the SDG family! Contact us for more information or check out our available puppies.

For Blue's lunch today, we kept things simple and focused on an important skill: patience. Rather than introducing something new, we practiced calmly laying down and remaining in position while he received his meal.
Blue is incredibly food motivated, which makes him a fast learner, but it also means he's often eager to jump ahead to the next step before fully settling into the one he's been asked to do. Since he's progressing so well in his other training, we took the opportunity to focus on self-control and duration instead.
We enjoyed some time together on the front porch while Blue worked through his lunch, learning that sometimes the hardest part of training is simply being still and waiting. Building patience like this helps create a dog who can remain calm, focused, and responsive even when exciting things are happening around him.

Many of you have been asking for an update on Dawson (formerly Risen), and we're excited to share some good news.

As many of you know, Dawson came back to us after his little girl was found to have severe allergies. It was a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved, and we were so sad for the family who loved him so much.

We're happy to report that Dawson has found an incredible new family and is heading to his new home today. His new name will be Hank, and he is already very loved. His family is excited about the future they have planned together, including the possibility of Hank becoming a therapy dog one day.

While saying goodbye is never easy, this is exactly the kind of ending we hope for when life takes an unexpected turn. Hank is getting a wonderful family, and we couldn't be happier for him.

Thank you to everyone who reached out, checked on him, prayed for the family, and followed his journey. We can't wait to watch Hank's next chapter unfold.

SDG Family Check-In: "Seeing all of the puppies find their forever families makes me want to send you some pictures of Murphy!!

He is enjoying the summer in Colorado Springs with me and has become the biggest goofball. He is spending his summer exploring lots of new sites, scents, and of course having lots of playtime and loving! (His favorite activity is to find the biggest stick possible on walks and take it home with him lol)"

Dawson received the warmest welcome home from his brothers and sisters this morning. There was no shortage of play, excitement, and happy tails as they reunited and spent the morning having fun together. We think they were just as excited to see him as he was to see them. ❤️

Sometimes life gives us the hardest surprises.

Our sweet Risen (now known as Dawson) is returning to us through absolutely no fault of his own. His little girl recently discovered that she is severely allergic to him, and after a lot of tears and difficult conversations, her family has made the difficult decision to put her health first.

This puppy was her dream. To say that she and her mom are devastated would be an understatement. Our hearts hurt right along with theirs.

Dawson is everything we hoped he would be. He is loving, gentle, affectionate, and has the sweetest personality. He has been deeply loved and well cared for, and he has done absolutely nothing wrong. Sometimes circumstances simply change, and this is one of those situations.

For now, Dawson will be spending some time back with us while we look for the family that is meant to be his forever home.

We would appreciate your prayers for this sweet little girl as she says goodbye to a puppy she loves so much, and for Dawson as he begins the next chapter of his journey.

We know there is a wonderful family out there waiting for him, and when the time is right, we'll help him find them.

Until then, welcome home, Dawson (Risen). ❤️

Today we said goodbye to our little Zion, now known as Arlo, as he headed off to his new home in Center City, Minnesota.
Arlo has always been our little adventurer. Full of character, curiosity, and determination, he never let his size slow him down. He may be the smallest pups, but he has a mighty spirit and a way of making everyone smile.
From his earliest days, he showed us that courage doesn't come from size. It comes from heart, and Arlo has plenty of that. We have no doubt he is going to bring endless joy, laughter, and love to his new family.

Good manners are important to reward! Puppies are always learning. If you reward the behaviors you want to see, they will continue doing them.
