Today was one of my favorite days as a veterinarian, and it had nothing to do with a clinic!

I had so much fun visiting my son's kindergarten class to talk about what it means to be a vet. I brought along all kinds of veterinary supplies for show and tell, and the kids got to see and touch the tools we use to care for animals every day.

We talked about all the different animals veterinarians help, from family dogs and cats to wildlife, and the questions these kids asked were priceless.

Watching their eyes light up when they learned how we use a stethoscope reminded me exactly why I love this work.

Educating the next generation about animal health and compassionate care is a passion of mine, and moments like today make it all worth it.

While Rover Veterinary Care is dedicated to in-home end-of-life care, Dr. Katie is also proud to partner with local shelters and rescue groups to provide spay & neuter services and additional procedures for homeless pets in need. Today, this sweet boy (Meatball) underwent a hindlimb amputation following a severe injury. He came through beautifully and has a loving home already waiting for him. Wishing him a smooth recovery and a wonderful new chapter. 🐾

This morning, the Rover Vet Care family laced up our sneakers and hit the trails for the Flamingo Run for Rescues 5K - and what a morning it was! 🦩🐾

We were proud to sponsor this incredible event, and even prouder to run it alongside our three kids, who tackled their very first 5K today. We could not be more impressed with them.

I’m Dr. Katie Matzke, founder and sole veterinarian behind Rover Veterinary Care, a small, local practice established in 2020 and based right here in Jupiter. We provide compassionate end-of-life care for pets, including quality-of-life assessments, in-home euthanasia, and cremation services throughout Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast. 💙

My background is in shelter medicine—I spent 10 years with Nevada Humane Society and now provide spay & neuter surgeries for local shelters and rescues in South Florida, in addition to caring for families through Rover.

On the home front, I’m a Jupiter native, mom of three, runner, book lover, and proud pet parent to Cocoa the lab, Fritz the cat… and our newest addition, Millie, who’s clearly stealing the spotlight here 🐾
