🍯 HEY, IT'S HONEY! — AND YES, I'M STILL HERE! 🐾

Maybe you've seen my face around ARF before… but I thought it was time we properly reintroduced ourselves.

Hi. I'm Honey. 🍯

I'm an outdoorsy, adventurous kind of girl. Give me somewhere new to explore and I'm happy as can be. I love checking things out, investigating what's going on, and meeting new animals.

Now, do I sometimes bark at those new animals?

…Yes. 😌

But listen, somebody has to announce that they're here.

I'm also pretty independent. I enjoy hanging out with my people, but I'm perfectly capable of doing my own thing. I don't need to be entertained every second of the day. Sometimes a girl just wants to wander around, investigate something interesting, and mind her own business.

I'm curious. I'm adventurous. I'm independent. And I have a whole lot of personality packed into one very cute package. ❤️

So if you're looking for a dog who would love to explore the great outdoors with you, investigate every new smell, and occasionally provide unsolicited commentary when she spots something interesting…

I might just be your girl. 🐾

🐾 SEPTEMBER IS RESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERSHIP MONTH! 🐾

Being a responsible dog owner isn't just about having a full food bowl and a cute collar. It's about making a commitment to that dog for their entire life. ❤️

Responsible dog ownership means:

🐶 Keeping vaccinations and preventative care up to date
🩺 Providing veterinary care when they need it
✂️ Spaying or neutering when appropriate
🆔 Making sure they have proper identification and a microchip
🏡 Providing a safe, secure home
🦮 Giving them exercise, enrichment, training, and socialization
💙 Being patient when they're learning or struggling
🍖 Feeding them properly and providing fresh water
🚗 Keeping them safely contained and supervised
❤️ And most importantly… understanding that a dog is a commitment, not a temporary convenience.

At ARF, we see what can happen when that commitment is broken. Dogs don't understand why their family didn't come back. They don't understand why they're suddenly in a shelter or searching for a foster home.

They just know they lost their person.

So this Responsible Dog Ownership Month, let's celebrate the people who show up—for the whole lifetime. 🐾

Because being a good dog owner isn't about being perfect.

It's about being responsible, being prepared, and being there. ❤️

🚨 REASONS NOT TO ADOPT SUMMER 🚨

Summer is an Australian Shepherd puppy.

We could probably stop there. 😂

But this girl is also a water-loving little adventurer who gets along with dogs, cats, farm animals, chickens, turtles, and people.

She's blind in one eye, but apparently she didn't get the memo that she's supposed to let that slow her down.

She has places to go. Things to investigate. Water to splash in. Friends to make.

Our official recommendation: DO NOT adopt Summer unless you're prepared for an adventurous little Aussie who refuses to let anything—including one blind eye—keep her from enjoying life. 💦🐾💙

🐾 $5 FRIDAY IS COMING! 🐾

What can $5 really do?

Maybe not much by itself… but what if 20 people gave $5? That's $100 for ARF. ❤️

What if 50 people joined in? $250.

And if 100 people gave just $5? That's $500 going toward helping animals in need. 🐶🐱

That's the idea behind $5 Friday!

For one Friday at the beginning of each month, we're asking our ARF supporters to skip the drive-thru coffee (just this once 😉) and donate that $5 to help provide food, shelter, supplies, and medical care for rescued animals.

🚨 REASONS NOT TO ADOPT TUX 🚨

Tux has already made one thing very clear:

The crate is acceptable.

The human bed is preferred.

He's also pretty good on a leash, gets along with other dogs, and has successfully moved on from his unfortunate "left-tied-to-a-sign" chapter.

He's a little terrier mix, which means he comes with all the standard terrier features: personality, opinions, determination, and absolutely no intention of being boring.

Our official recommendation: DO NOT adopt Tux unless you're prepared to explain to him that your bed was, in fact, yours first. Good luck with that. 😂🐾

🐶❤️ **Happy National Dog Day!** ❤️🐶

Today, we celebrate the dogs who make our lives brighter with wagging tails, sloppy kisses, goofy personalities, and unconditional love.

At ARF, we're especially grateful for the incredible rescue dogs who remind us every day that resilience, forgiveness, and love have no limits. Whether they came to us as frightened strays, unwanted puppies, or dogs simply down on their luck, each one deserves a chance to experience the joy of a forever home.

National Dog Day is also a reminder that there are still countless dogs waiting in shelters and rescues for someone to choose them. If you've been thinking about adding a furry family member, consider adopting. Your new best friend might already be waiting for you.

Not ready to adopt? You can still make a huge difference by fostering, volunteering, donating, or simply sharing our adoptable dogs with friends and family. Every share, every donation, and every act of kindness helps another dog get one step closer to home.

Today, give your dog an extra hug, toss their favorite ball one more time, sneak them an extra treat (or two!), and take a moment to appreciate the unconditional love they give so freely.

🚨 REASONS NOT TO ADOPT PENNY 🚨

Penny is only 4½ months old, which means she has absolutely no intention of respecting your personal schedule.

She has two speeds:

GO.
…and GO FASTER.

She loves toys, playing, fetching, dogs, cats, farm animals, and basically anything that looks like it might be fun.

And don't even ask what breed she is. We have theories. 😂 Redbone coloring? Maybe. Min Pin ears? Could be. Chihuahua bark? Absolutely possible. Terrier body? Sure, why not.

Our official recommendation: DO NOT adopt Penny unless you're prepared for a tiny Heinz 57 tornado with a PhD in having fun. 🐾🤣

🚨 REASONS NOT TO ADOPT CASH 🚨

Cash is tall.

Like… TALL.

He’s already taller than his siblings, and nobody has confirmed where exactly he plans to stop growing. 😂

His dad is a mystery, possibly a heeler or lab, so adopting Cash is basically signing up for a lifelong DNA guessing game.

He’s curious, playful, handsome, and loves hanging out with other dogs.

Our official recommendation: DO NOT adopt Cash unless you're prepared to have a ridiculously handsome, long-legged companion who may eventually require his own zip code. 🐾😂
