Our little library & pantry has been used in many exchanges over the last few months. I just did my monthly sort & added a few items ! 💞 (lots of noodles, rice, canned fruits/veggies, etc)

Due to the impending bad weather, Wednesday will mark the first day that Hawk’s Hollow Exchange will open its shelves with little delights waiting to be discovered.

This project grew from a desire to spread comfort, connection, and a bit of everyday magic in our community. It’s rooted in Ron’s spirit who was someone who never hesitated to help, who believed in taking care of people and animals alike, and who inspired us to create a space where kindness could keep moving forward.

This little enchanted exchange will stay full with treats for hungry hands, a shelf holding stories waiting to be discovered, and even a dedicated place for good eats for furry companions. It’s a place where a can of soup might sit next to a storybook, or a bag of kibble might find its way to just the right paws. Magic tends to find its way to where it’s needed most.

✨This week, our focus is on shelf-stable Thanksgiving meals (though anything is welcome!) ✨

You’re gonna notice some changes over the next 6 months.. NEW YEAR, NEW ORGANIZATION 🫶🏼

We’ve been gate keeping a pretty big secret around here. Starting July of this year, we will be operating as a wildlife rehabilitation organization! 🥳🥳

We have many rehabber friends that have been drowning the last few years & our mission is to step up to help them with any overflow.

That said, we will not do any intake on any wildlife until we are LICENSED and APPROVED by DNR, so it will be pretty quiet here til later this summer. There is a lengthy process between testing and facility inspection which is our priority. The next few months will give us the opportunity to take the time to get those things addressed so we can open as a compliant organization.

Any and all donations from January-June will still be tax deductible through Poe’s Purpose and kept in a reserve in the business account in the meantime. These funds will be critical to us ensuring we have everything we need to open as scheduled in July.

We cannot wait to service our community in the coming years and help to share the burden with our local, established wildlife rehabbers. 💞💞

As it is the holiday season & we are quickly approaching the new year, I would love to take a moment to express the gratitude our team at Poe’s Purpose Small Animal Sanctuary has felt for our supporters over the last 6 years through various seasons & changes. When we filed as a nonprofit, we did so as an animal education organization as to support our community in a unique way. As one chapter closes, another opens. This week we had a bittersweet moment of accepting our final intake into our sanctuary.

On December 31st, we will be closing the doors here and transitioning to something even more incredible. Beginning January 1st, all donations received will be going towards our newest venture and will still be tax deductible. Can’t wait to share that with you all!

On that note: we are accepting donations through then to support the critters here at the sanctuary. They will always have a place with us, we are just transitioning away from domestic animal education! 🫶🏼

We have 7 shirts to clear from our merch inventory that will fund our newest intake, Poptart and her care.

Our boy has his implant & a good report from his bloodwork. He did show some very early signs of kidney disease but the hope is the hormone implant will keep the adrenal disease from progressing…we’re so happy because we are not sure how long it went untreated before he came to us! We could really use donations to get the sanctuary account back up 💸

We rarely get any “firsts” as far as education & intake goes. But here is a new first for us… meet this lil guy who landed in our care today. So far we’ve figured out he is FULL of silly personality. Like truly the biggest goof. Despite his appearance he seems pretty healthy. His skin is healthy & his teeth look great! We suspect advanced, untreated adrenal disease which contributes to his lack of hair over most of his body & being a tad underweight. At minimum this looks like some bloodwork to confirm kidney function and hopefully good results so he can receive a hormone implant and give him some more time with us. We are tickled to have such a spunky little friend here!! Obsessed may be an understatement. 🫣

Help us name him for his fresh start 🫶🏼
And donate if you can!! This is going to be an expense we weren’t expecting.
