Miss Maddie is officially all set up and ready for her babies! 🥹🤍🐾

Her whelping area is ready, supplies are stocked, and now we begin watching her very closely as we enter this final stretch.

Because Maddie is carrying a small litter of just 3 puppies, we are planning for a C-section rather than allowing her to labor naturally. Smaller litters can sometimes mean less hormonal stimulation to get labor started, and the puppies may also grow larger because they have more room in the uterus. Both of those things can make natural delivery more difficult, so we want to be as proactive and safe as possible for Maddie and her babies.

Progesterone is the hormone that helps maintain pregnancy. As a dog gets very close to delivering, that level begins to drop. By checking Maddie’s progesterone now, we can follow that downward trend and use it along with her dates, behavior, temperature, and our veterinarian’s guidance to help determine when her puppies are truly ready to be delivered.

So while tomorrow could be the day, we don’t know that just yet. ❤️ We’ll be taking it one step at a time and letting Maddie’s body help guide us.

For now, she seems pretty pleased with her accommodations. 😂🥰

Mother + daughter, both expecting 🤍

Maddie is Day 55 and Autumn is Day 46, which means we are officially in full prep mode over here. 🐾

The whelping room is getting ready, supplies are being stocked, and these two mamas are next up for baths + pawticures before their babies arrive. 😂

There’s something extra special about watching a mother and daughter go through this season together. Two litters, one very exciting October. 🥹🤍

It’s been a little quieter around here the past couple of weeks, and life has definitely felt like a whirlwind. 🤍

At the beginning of September, we lost my sweet father-in-law, and just two days later, our family welcomed our newest grandson, Nolan, grandbaby #6. After saying goodbye to my father-in-law, I traveled to Maine to spend some precious time with my daughter, her family, and our new little guy. 🥹🤍

Meanwhile, exciting things have been happening back home too! Miss Maddie is expecting three precious puppies and will be welcoming her final litter very soon, with her whelping window next week. And Miss Autumn is also expecting, with her babies due around mid-October. 🐾

We’ve also had another bittersweet change as Miss Angel has officially started her next chapter with her forever family in Colorado. Saying goodbye was hard, but knowing she is loved, spoiled, and living her best life brings us so much peace. This has been in the works since last year. So very bitter sweet. 🤍

So if things have seemed a little quiet lately, that’s why. It’s been a season of grief, new life, big changes, travel, and now… puppy watch. 🐾🤍

And one has apparently relocated to another zip code. 🤣

No meetings. No deadlines. Just vibes. 🐾
