Update on the found senior yorkie last week. Now dubbed Lord Byron, this pup has spent a week at our vet partners Dr. Mike with Full Circle Animal Hospital. He was brought to our vet by his finder with limited back-leg mobility, covered in ticks, and underweight. Lord Byron has responded well to two rounds of steroid injections and antibiotics.

Byron has joined Fawn’s and is now a medical foster with Kim Miller. He is on a nutrient rich diet to help him gain strength and muscle mass. Kim will work on physical therapy sessions to help with muscle rebuilding in his rear legs. He is happy and as sweet as can be. He had to be shaved to rid him of all the dead ticks. Lord Byron has a follow appt on 6/11 to see about vaccines and neuter surgery.

Lord Byron isn’t available for adoption as he’s decompressing and must complete his vetting.

Thank you to everyone who has donated for his care! We can't do what we do without you. Honestly, every donation helps to save lives!

****FOUND YORKIE**** 32226
(This is not Renzo)

At 8am, right after my call to the ER vet to check on Kayko, aka April, we got a call about a tiny yorkie who seemed dazed and confused, found in the street. We initially referred her to JHS, but after speaking with her and finding out that the dog could not use its back legs and having trouble with front legs we suspected maybe the dog was very dehydrated and possibly hit by a car and offered to take the dog into our rescue. Some kids told her the dog came from the woods and they have been seeing it for the past 3 days. She took the dog to our vet. The dog was found unable to use its back legs and unstable. They took X-rays to check for any fractures or deformities in legs or spine and did not find any besides mild arthritis in one hip. The vet is exploring two possible causes. One, some sort of toxic exposure most likely to a flea and tick shampoo or topical treatment, or possibly an injury from a fall or as the vet put it being thrown out of a car. The dog was also covered in dozens of ticks which can also cause neurological symptoms. It has a 72 hour treatment plan, bloodwork to check for infection and organ function, fluids to flush out the system, and steroids to treat any possible inflammation. Plus treatment and removal of the ticks. In our vets opinion there is significant hope for meaningful recovery and quality of life. If you know of anybody missing a yorkie please have them contact us so we can determine if this is their dog. We will require proof of ownership. We will report the dog as found through Petcolovelost.
Vet cost: TBD

We realized we forgot to post on National Rescue Dog Day, which was May 20th! We always hope we can make a sweet and cute post, but rescue isn't always like that.

Meet Kayko, she's another senior Lhasa Apso. She's from the same situation we posted about several days ago. She's currently at VEG for emergency veterinary care.

We need your continued support and donations for rescue dogs like Kayko!

More about Kayko, like the other Lhasa Apsos she's been covered in her own mess for who knows how long. To be honest, we couldn't see the full extent of her condition until the mats were removed...

She's all cleaned up, thank you Brittney and Paw Spa. Her grooming showed us just how critical her condition was. After observation her foster determined that she's dehydrated and likely anemic and required immediate medical attention.

Thank you to everyone who's already donated to our mission. Thank you to our community of fosters, adopters, and followers. You do so much for us and we appreciate all of you!

Kayla is Lhasa Apso with a charming white coat. She's 10 years young and weighs 12 lbs. She's spayed, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly preventatives.

Kayla's favorite things include:
- Snuggling, cozy beds, and blankets
- Gentle voices and reassurance
- Following her humans everywhere
- Existing as the world’s fanciest baby
- Her doggie siblings (big and small)

Kayla is mostly blind, but don’t tell her that! She's a smart girl who learns her environment and once she's familiar, she's able to safely get around her home. She's doing wonderfully with house and potty training.

Kayla is the definition of sweet and mild-tempered, she's a quiet little soul who wants to feel safe and loved. She'd do best with humans who are home often and understand vision limitations. She'd enjoy gentle doggie siblings, especially if you're out of the house often. She needs a yard and a fenced yard is recommended as she's unfamiliar with harnesses and leashes. She's ready to be your devoted, tenderhearted companion.

Our community of animal lovers never ceases to amaze me. For every one dog that is dumped, abused, neglected or forgotten, there are at least a hundred people who want to help that dog in some way or another. Thank you to Lindsay Silva for being the voice of the little white dog that appeared to be dumped with his crate, matted, caked in f***s, and a very large tumor on his, ahem ..."w***y". She scooped him up and had him scanned for a microchip, of which none was found. She posted him as found on social media and many of you tagged our rescue. This boy looked to need help asap. I responded to the posts and Lindsay reached out to us. She drove him to our vet partners at St. Johns Affordable Animal Hospital. The doctor is certain the tumor was not TVT based on location and other visible tells. This little boy did great at the vet for his exam. He was dewormed, heartworm tested and had blood drawn for his upcoming surgery next week to remove the tumor. He also received antibiotics for the infection on the tumor itself. He will receive vaccinations after the bloodwork comes back. He spent the night at Lindsay's work clinic. Today we picked him up and our amazing groomer partner, Brittney @ Paw Spa in Middleburg worked her magic! Our foster Andrea, will be picking him up shortly to bringing him home with her. She has named him "Willie", of course!

I am
~Thankful to Lindsay for not looking the other way
~Thankful to Animal Eye Clinic Orange Park for housing him overnight
~Thankful to so many of you for tagging us, thinking of and trusting us to help him
~Thankful to the vets and staff at St. Johns Affordable Animal Hospital for seeing him asap
~Thankful to Brittney Middleburg for being so gentle and loving while grooming him
~Thankful to Andrea Rojas for stepping up to foster him.

Here is where you can help Willie. If you would like to make a donation to help cover the cost of Willie's upcoming surgery, please donate here or visit our website
Www.FawnsSmallDogRescue.org and click on donate.

~Thankful to you for your donations to help Willie and dogs like him in our community.

It takes a village!

Just look at the cuteness! The vets guesstimated age is 6yrs. Willie is not available for adoption at this time.
