Listening at home doesn't count until it holds up everywhere else.

Most dogs are not stubborn. They're undertrained for the world outside your living room.

Here is what that actually means. Your dog learned to sit in your kitchen. She learned it with your voice, your smell, your furniture in the background, and zero distractions. That isn't obedience. That's pattern recognition in a controlled environment.

The moment you add a parking lot, a neighbor's dog, a kid on a bike, the whole picture changes. She's not ignoring you. She genuinely doesn't have the skill set for that context yet.

We sent Gunner (14 weeks old) to Mackenzie for two weeks of basic puppy training and it couldn’t have been a better experience for him! She did an awesome job setting the foundations for his obedience & also updated us with photos and videos each day he was away! The handover session was very informative and prepared us well to continue his training while at home. We’ve found he is well prepared for distractions in public spaces, remaining calm around other people and dogs! Really loved how communicative and transparent the Ridgeside K9 team was throughout the entire process.

Your dog isn't too far gone. This family thought the same thing before they sent theirs.

That's the part nobody says out loud. The quiet conversation in the car on the way home from another bad walk. The text to a spouse that says "I don't know how much longer I can do this." The Google search at 11pm that starts with "rehoming a dog when."

I have seen it a hundred times. A dog that pulls, lunges, barks, won't listen, makes the whole house tense. And a family that loves the dog but is running out of road.

Then they send the dog to us.

What comes back isn't a different dog. It's the same dog, finally able to relax because someone gave it a clear structure to live inside. The loose body. The calm mouth. The dog that just sits there like it belongs.

That's what this photo is. Not a trick. Not a performance. A dog that someone almost gave up on, now clearly home.

We sent our Labrador puppy to train with Taylor for two weeks at a time about 3 months apart. Each training session resulted in so much improvement in our daily life with a puppy. The first round focused mostly on teaching basic commands, learning to walk on a leash, and limiting the puppy nips/jumps. Taylor made more progress with her in two weeks than we had in months. Our second round of training leveled up the skills and our dog is significantly better behaved. No more chewing on things she shouldn’t and constantly needing attention from us. We’re able to enjoy having our puppy and continue training in between stays with Taylor. We will continue to work with her as our puppy grows. Highly recommend!
