Our Boarding is open to dogs who have been through a balanced training program. Whether you are looking for someone to safely handle and manage your pup with behavioral issues or just looking to maintain commands, proper tool usage, routine, and structure in a home environment (and if it’s your pups thing, all the love!)

If you’re interested in boarding or want to connect for future possibilities, please email [email protected] to see if we would be a good fit for your pup! 🐾

Boop Buca's Snoot in Welcome🖤

Buca is with us this week for training. We have to note that this guy has some HYSTERICAL facial expressions. (I'll try to share what we capture in the story 😉)

Okay back to business!
Here to work on:
👉🏼Pulling on the leash when he sees 🐿️ or other dogs.
👉🏼Jumping/Counter Surfing
👉🏼 Consistency with commands around distractions

Of course we are laying a foundation of all things 👉🏼 obedience 👈🏼

His owners just want bit more clear communication between themselves & him + structure.

Good Luck Buca!

A great self reflection ❔to start the week.

If the goal is to create calmness or more neutrality, then our behavior can matter as well.

Here's a little experiment for ya. Take a can of soda. Shake it up nice & good... Now try to open it. What's going to happen pretty much every time? Well essentially, not a very pleasant soda drinking experience.

When it comes to our dogs, if we create a bunch of energy, we can't necessarily expect that energy to just clear away as soon as we move on to the next thing. For instance a walk. All that energy 9 times out of 10 is just going to transfer to your walk and create not a great experience.

Take this a step further. If we are consistently doing these behaviors we start to create associations. Cue the dog that gets overly excited every time ANYONE comes through the front door now.

Calmness is a muscle that you can teach your dog and with practice you can strengthen daily. If they are being calm, let them do their thing...

By no means is this the blame game. You didn't know any better! But now you do :)

So ask yourselves, is what I'm doing benefiting me or my dog?

To sum up:

Step 1:Teach a reliable system.

Step 2:Add in real life distractions

Step 3:Take your new system outside (low stimulation)

Steph 4:Kick it up a notch in higher stimulation areas. Here's probably where you work through what you originally wanted to address. I.E. your dog getting excited every time you pass another dog.

Those initial steps might feel like extra work when all you want is that one thing addressed BUT they are SO CRUCIAL to your success.

We start inside with every single dog. If you aren't getting consistency inside odds are you won't get it outside.

Hope that makes sense & helps shed some light on the process.

"What do I do when..."

Is how most questions we get start. Our answer is never really just "give your dog this command."

A big part of our jobs is helping owners learn a new order of operations so that they feel confident and capable of trouble shooting any situation that may come up with their dog.

It goes something like...

👉🏼How can you communicate beyond just your words?

👉🏼 Evaluate the situation, what job can you give your dog to focus on to help them be more successful?

👉🏼Is the push back genuine push back or confusion that you should work your dog through? This might mean breaking things down even further to help them understand.

That's the magic right there... It's what makes a great owner & leader.

Bucky boy is also back home! From what we hear he is getting nice and settled into his new routine. The cat of the house is also enjoying the boundaries & structure Bucky learned while he was in. Ah, the many benefits of place 😂

Can't wait to see this handsome boy in a few weeks for boarding! I mean who wouldn't love seeing that face again?!

When you look at training like this it really feels more attainable.

Yes, training sessions & commands are important... But it's not the whole thing. I'd argue in many cases it's not even the MOST important thing.

All those little interactions that happen every day add up and do affect your relationship + your dogs mindset/behaviors.

More little things that are big that happen everyday:
-Coming out of the crate
-Going out to potty
-Meal times
-Petting (watch that mindset!)
-Putting the leash on
-Treats/rewards
-Coming home from work
-Advocating outside the home

Ya get the point?
