I know I talk about all the adoptions that fail, so I thought I would post a success story. Cathy came into the shelter and saw Summer. She was interested in her and came back with a grandchild and they took Summer out into the dog park. There may have been another visit. So, Cathy decides to take Summer. She comes and gets her, (heart breaks!! lol). After a day or two, Cathy is concerned, she says Summer isn't eating, she acts like she's depressed. I'm thinking, she's going to bring Summer back. Oh heck NO! Cathy comes back to the shelter, not to bring Summer back, but to adopt Summer's pal, Buddy. Both dogs had been in the shelter for over a year and I always paired them up in the dog park. People pass over the plain Janes, or the dreaded pit mix, and they're the best dogs there. They have so much love to give, they've become one of my favorite breeds. Summer was mature when she came into the shelter, but Buddy was an older puppy. I think when they come into the shelter a puppy, they stay in their puppy phase. Of course I'm just guessing. Cathy didn't rush into anything, she took her time and weighed the pros and cons. She came to see Summer several times. She acted like a responsible adult, what can I say!! Even with Buddy's shenanigans, I've heard through the grapevine, that Cathy says they are not coming back to the shelter!! Thank you Cathy for being a GOLD STAR ADOPTER. I will find more because I know we have some more successful adoptions.
