After disappearing for an entire week, Libby finally made a brief appearance last night! While her visit was short, we are hopeful that we are getting closer to bringing this girl home!

We have made some significant changes to our equipment and trapping setup, and now we need your help keeping her feeding station stocked!

Peaceful Pets At-Home Pet Care

A truck carrying 25 horses was stopped just 25 miles from Canada, becoming New York’s first arrest under a new anti-slaughter law.

The stop came shortly before 2:30 a.m. on September 2, 2026, on U.S. Highway 11 in DeKalb, St. Lawrence County.

State Police said the horses were tagged for slaughter in Quebec.

The law, effective in 2024, prohibits transporting, selling, buying, or possessing horses intended for slaughter for human or animal consumption.

Pennsylvania driver Robert M. Seitz was arrested and charged under New York Agriculture and Markets Law.

The case followed information from animal-welfare groups and an investigation involving state police, federal agencies, and local officials.

All 25 horses were removed and taken to a New York facility for veterinary evaluation and care.

Seitz received an appearance ticket for DeKalb Town Court.

For 25 horses, the law’s first enforcement changed the destination entirely.
