Many clients ask us if they need to be worried about Leptospirosis and their pet. The answer is YES! Anyplace that there are squirrels, chipmunks, mice, moles, and other backyard wildlife, there can be Leptospirosis. And - Leptospirosis can infect people, too!
All of the pets that we have diagnosed and treated for Leptospirosis have been pets that stay in their own yard or go on walks in their own neighborhoods.
Fortunately, there is a vaccine that will help to protect against several strains of Leptospirosis. Please call us at 216-524-5220 for information on how to vaccinate your pet against this disease.
