KAHU KAHU

Hello, and welcome to Kahu! Here at Kahu, our greatest passion is to see animals fostered, rescued and adopted! Thank you! What is Kahu, you ask?

Kahu is a media platform for pet adoption, rescue and awareness – especially for those animals who are the most marginalized and at the greatest risk of shelter euthanasia. We strive for shelter animals to be rescued from overcrowding and to bring awareness to all those pets in need of forever homes. Kahu is a place for animal – care, adoption and welfare. We exist to bring awareness to those anim

als in greatest need of adoption and rescue. If you are looking for a place to share an animal in need, look no further! We do ask that this page remain a rescue and adoption page – shelters, strays and rescues only! No breeding or selling of animals of any kind. And please help us to change the world for one animal – one adoption at a time! This is what it means to be a 'KAHU' 👇👇

🚨 URGENT – LINNEA NEEDS RESCUE OR ADOPTION BY WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1ST! 🚨

💔 Linnea thought she had her forever home… but sadly, she’s back and running out of time.

🐾 4 years old
🐾 Adoption fee sponsored
🐾 House trained & kennel trained
🐾 Walks great on leash
🐾 Wonderful with kids

Linnea is an incredibly loving and affectionate girl with people—she truly just wants to be by your side and soak up all the love she can get 💕

⚠️ She would do best as the only pet or in a home with very few animals, as she prefers not to share her space with other dogs.

This girl gave her heart once and lost her home… she doesn’t deserve to lose her life too 😞

👉 She needs a committed adopter or rescue who understands her needs and will give her the stable, loving home she deserves
👉 Please share—time is running out!

Let’s not fail Linnea again. She’s ready to give someone her whole heart—she just needs the chance. 🐶💔

🚨 URGENT – NEEDS RESCUE OR ADOPTION BY FRIDAY, APRIL 3RD! 🚨

This sweet boy has found himself back at the shelter through no fault of his own… his owner sadly passed away, and now he’s alone and confused 💔

🐾 1-year-old male
🐾 Young, full of life, and ready to love again
🐾 Desperately needs a second chance at a forever home

He’s lost everything he knew, and now he’s running out of time ⏳ Every day in the shelter is harder for him as he tries to understand why his person never came back.

💙 He doesn’t need perfection—just someone willing to open their heart and give him the love and stability he deserves.

👉 Please consider adopting, or helping us find a rescue placement ASAP!
👉 Share this post—his life depends on it!

Let’s come together and make sure his story doesn’t end here. 🐶💔

Uncle Gavin!!

This pup has seen his fellow puppy roommates constantly getting adopted all around him, and we have no idea why he hasn’t been picked!!

Gavin is adorable inside and out, and he’s so smart! He loves to play and snuggle, he’s dog door trained, and he’s been a great mentor to coming puppies (hence his new nickname) 🙃

Come meet this ~7 month old, big earred sweetheart at the Madison Lifesaving Center today!!

PSA- Don't leave your pups outside this winter! 🥶🥶

[REMINDER] with frigid temps in the forecast, remember if it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for your pet. We want pet owners to remember your 🐱🐈🦮🐶 four-legged friends as the temperatures begin to fall.

Here are a few tips to make sure both indoor and outdoor pets stay healthy throughout winter.

☃️Bring pets inside: Pets can get hypothermia and frostbite, just like people.
☃️Provide a cozy space: If pets are going to be left outside, make sure there’s a comfortable, warm space insulated from the wind and cold.
☃️Check your pet’s paws: Cold weather can damage your pet’s paws. Look for cracked paw pads or bleeding. Also, make sure to clean your pet’s paws after being outside. Salt and other products used to melt ice and snow can irritate paw pads. Paw booties are an option if your pet needs to walk outside.
☃️Layer up: If you pet has a thinner coat, he or she might need a sweater or coat. Just make sure the extra layer isn’t wet—a wet coat or sweater can make your dog even colder.
☃️Prevent poisoning: Clean up antifreeze spills or buildup whenever you notice them. Pets might like the way it smells and tastes, but it’s poisonous. If your pet eats antifreeze, call your vet immediately.
☃️Get a checkup: Cold weather can make certain medical conditions like arthritis worse.
