🌞🐾 Keep Your Pup Cool This Summer, Orange County! 🐾🌞
Sunny days are one of the best parts of living in Orange County, but warm weather can be hard on our four-legged friends. Here's how to help your pup stay safe:
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water.
🌅 Walk early in the morning or after the sun goes down.
🐾 Test the pavement before every walk—it can get much hotter than the air temperature.
🌳 Take plenty of breaks in the shade.
❄️ Offer frozen treats or a cooling mat to help your dog beat the heat.
☀️ Looking for fun ways to keep your dog busy indoors?
🧩 Hide treats around the house for a scent game.
🎓 Work on training or teach a fun new trick.
🥣 Freeze peanut butter (xylitol-free), plain yogurt, or dog-safe fruits in a Kong or lick mat.
🎾 Play tug, fetch down the hallway, or use interactive puzzle toys.
👃 Let your dog sniff out treats hidden in a rolled-up towel.
💦 Cool off together with a sprinkler or kiddie pool if your pup loves water.
A mentally stimulated dog is a happy dog—even when it's too hot to spend much time outside!
Keep an eye out for signs of overheating, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or confusion. If your dog shows these symptoms, move them to a cool place, offer water, and contact your veterinarian right away.
