One of the best training things we did is build up the routine of Skylar going to her place while we eat meals.
🔴 We started when she was a puppy by giving her lots of treats in small increments when she was in her place so that she learned this is where the good stuff happens. We also give her bones and other chews there to build that positive association. Additionally, we make sure that the only times she gets food or treats in the dining room is when she’s at her place.
🟡 With a lot of training and time, she now goes there automatically when we eat our basic meals and stays there throughout. We are still working on strengthening it so that if we have guests over or are at friends’ houses we can do the same with a high level of certainty and success.
