We need Support now more then ever!πŸ™πŸ’šπŸπŸΈπŸ¦ŽπŸ’

The rescues are here!!

The rescues are on this page!!

The rescues see the Reptiles in need every single day!!

But rescues are overwhelmed!! πŸ₯Ή

Rescues run on donations. Rescues rely on Adoptions. And not just temporary excitement or good intentions! We need reliable, trustworthy, dependable people who will truly care for these animals. People that will keep the Reptiles/Amphibians safe, loved, and stay committed for however long it takes.

Sometimes fostering lasts a week.

Sometimes it lasts months.

Some Reptiles are adopted quickly. Others wait longer.

Everything takes time!!!

And when rescues do step up and pull the time-stamped Reptiles, so many of them end up forgotten. The pledges disappear. The donations slow down. The people stop coming forward. But the Reptiles still need vet care, food, and people willing to stand by them long after.

So instead of asking where the rescues are, ask yourself what YOU can do to help save the Reptiles at Heart Reptile Rescue And Sanctuary .

The rescues are here.

And we are exhausted, heartbroken, overwhelmed β€” but we are still here every single day for these animals.

The behavior shown in the image is real and is known as tonic immobility (or thanatosis). A study published in Royal Society Open Science in 2023 confirmed that female European common frogs (Rana temporaria) employ this "playing dead" tactic specifically to escape unwanted mating attempts.

A few facts below from Heart Reptile Rescue And Sanctuary:

Tonic Immobility: Roughly one-third of females in the study went completely limp, stiffened their limbs, and appeared lifeless. This often causes the male to lose interest and release his grip.

Body Rotation: This is the most common tactic, used by 83% of females, where they twist and turn to shake a male off.

Release Calls: About 48% of females emitted deep, low-frequency grunts that mimic the sounds male frogs make to tell other males to let go.
