Day 4 of our power being out. We are grateful for our generator to keep our freezers and fridge going. Missing our AC but we were planning to be camping this weekend anyway 🤪 awaiting DTE to remove this tree that fell on our newly installed electric fence and is also laying on the power lines. We are lucky this is the extent of the damage around here as so many others around us have trees through their homes, on their vehicles and are losing food in their homes due to no generator.

I’m excited to see the success of this round of meat birds. We are doing things a little different by ‘pasture’ raising them. They have access to the tractor and other shade but so far they seem very happy! We are raising them for 8 weeks which means the extra movement should be good for them 😊

‘Cookie’ joined us a few weeks ago 🥰 he has a big job around here as he’s been in with our chicks and he is the best stepdad and protector! He shows them the food & water and when we have them out to free range, he makes sure they all stay close! He’s too small to go in with our big boys so until I finish up our small bird pen, he will be babysitter cookie.

Meet Butters, a cute little cockerel we hatched earlier this year. He’s an olive egger that we got from a clutch of eggs from River Bend Farm and I just think he’s the prettiest boy!
